$11 PPPOKER, top 5 cash, 18 left, hero is chip leader, villain is very close second, and we are both about 2x third place. Villain has been very active pre and that's all hero knows so far. 52 BB effective. 9 handed.

OTTH

Villain opens 2.5 BB UTG +2, hero 3 bets A

8 BB LJ and only villain calls.

Flop (18.5 BB): A

.Villain leads for 10 BB and hero calls.

Turn (28.5 BB): K

River (28.5 BB): 9

Bad seat and hand to 3b/x esp vs someone who can basically bust you. We are too high up in our range to bluff and we don't want to get blown off our equity with a 4b. ICM in play now lets not go to war with the top 2 stacks with marginal holdings, picking on the med stacks where they feel ICM pressure alot more is better if we want to start making moves. Just call vs active opener to keep in worse / all the hands we have crushed go from there.

When you 3b here he can just play perfectly, fold all worse hands and call/4b everything else, not to mention there are heaps of people to act behind who can wake up and we are proly going to be priced in alot of the time

You try to 3b bluff against the other chip leader with 5 players left to act
That is a recipe for disaster

This time you got lucky that you didn't lose your stack

Flat call is infinite better here

I'm a newbie to tournaments. I didn't realize that when you're a big stack, you shouldn't pick on other big stacks later. My thought process was that he'd fear getting stacked by the one guy that can stack him and play worse vs me as a result. It's good to learn this stuff now.
