I was a little lost in this spot with my stack size

Day two of $200BI live tournament about 90 runners left, top 50 get paid.
Never player against villain seemed to be a little aggressive.

Thanks

just jam pre, lets fold out some flips, if not then its off to the races, if we win we have a nice stack to work with

Yeah you're starting with about 25bb so you can't make a standard 3b there. A lower variance option would be to just call and disguise your hand strength.

Agree with jam. Nothing wrong if V folds and you sometimes get called by worse with the overbet size. I've been called with AJs/ATs a few times with a similar play.

Yeah thanks guys, shove or flat.

I think I may make my 'standard' shoving stack size less than 30bbs especially with antes. Cut the crap and cut the variance.

Shoving up to 30bb will increase your variance, not decrease it. The way to decrease variance is to play small ball and see flops.

Yeah you're right.

I suppose shoving at least it makes the decision process more simple compared to what I tried.

Yes, which is why so many micro stakes fish overshove in lots of spots. They don't have the confidence to play postflop so they just make the easy move of shoving.

Agree with a lot of the previous posts. If you 3bet and get called, as happened here, you'll have to play a big pot out of position. You don't really want to do that. If you lose the pot your stack utility will be decreased from about 25bb to about 15bbs. That sucks.

A flat is fine pf, but I like a 3bet jam better. You can get called by worse. Some players may call A8+ and KQ suited thinking you're on a steal. On the other hand, you can fold out 22-77 and sometimes larger pairs that don't feel like flipping. Both great results.
