Hello all, here’s a hand from an online home game I played where I wasn’t sure whether I should be betting or checking. I used to be a winning small stakes 6max cash game player 10 years ago, but I’ve only been playing in the occasional home game since then. My home game moved online when Covid hit, and since then, I’ve been getting in about two 9-16 man tournaments (not my forte) per week.

Blinds are 25/50 with 10,000 effective stacks.
Villain is generally loose, but will likely bet a wide range vs weakness

Villain limps in seat 7
Hero raises AcKh to 225, everyone else folds to villain, who calls
Flop is QJ3
Pot is 525
Hero...

Here are my thoughts: I am generally betting my good made hands and draws here, but AK has some showdown value, and I *think* I would have to fold if he check-raises to a decent amount. If I check, I probably can’t call two streets on blanks unimproved. Betting gets value from worse draws (though I have blockers to draws) as well as possibly folding out underpairs. I think he never folds a Q and maybe not even a J, and he should have a decent amount of those in his range.

I appreciate any advice on this hand.

I bet because I have a range and nuts advantage + all A, K, T could be outs when I am called.

Limps / calls preflop are usually small pp and some weak suited aces.

Raise way more preflop and bet the flop.

Edit- what are the positions tho?

8 handed. Villain is UTG+1. Hero is UTG+2.

Yeah, 3b way more then since you're so deep. Given positions I'd still bet flop but don't mind just betting once and surrendering depending on runouts. We have Ac so we can double barrel some turns.
