Just a quick question that I can't seem to find a direct answer to...

(In tournaments) How wide should we adjust our calling range IP when antes are involved? I know it depends on a lot of factors but I'm just looking for generalized advice. Do we adjust it very wide? Do we adjust wider than normal but not by much? What is optimal here?

My gut says that we should widen the range but maybe not considering squeezing now becomes even more appealing.

So for example - let's say pre-ante, the lowest we call on the button to a regular CO open is KQo. Post ante - are we now calling KJo? KTo? K9o!?

Obviously we need to open it up a bit. Squeeze frequencies have become so much higher recently though this is a spot I struggle with. I've started playing around with throwing my 3b's in my flat range and a lot of my pre-ante flat range in my 3b range so that we see a lot less squeezes we can't defend against. So 99+AK goes in flat range and 4b AK/99-JJ if squeezed. Flat open and squeeze with QQ+AQs. And 3b our AT-AQo/KQs etc. Basically just using the opposite of a normal polarized range when tables are squeezing hyper aggro. Not saying it's working, just something I've played around with trying to slow down the blinds a bit in that situation. End rant/terrible advice

^^^ Agreed. Increasing 3-bet frequency when antes are involved.
Let's say that the total ante = 1BB. V opens 2.5BB. You 3-bet 7.5BB. It needs to work 60% as a bluff to be profitable.
With no antes it needs to work 68% of the time as a bluff. This is major enough difference to include more hands in 3-bet range, but those hands should still be playable. E.g. I often 3-bet with suited aces IP.

PS. If someone wants to mutter about balancing/GTO and stuff, save your time. Life is too short to worry about mythical balancing

I think of it as whom I am calling against and whom I want to play a pot against rather than if antes are in play or not.
