FT of small $109 (about 70 runners). ITM. Small site so plays closer to small-medium stakes MTT. Prob only one spot at the table, rest all typical stats. SB is chip leader, 33/26/12.5 over 42 hands. Hero in 4th of 8, not sure whether I prefer b/f or jam. Jam if called seems terrible, but b/f in an obv SB jam spot seems wasteful. TYIA.

    [hand_history] (1,500/3,000 blinds, 300 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 8 Players

    SB: 156,682 (52.2 bb)
    BB: 22,931 (7.6 bb)
    UTG+2: 63,649 (21.2 bb)
    MP1: 118,272 (39.4 bb)
    MP2: 50,146 (16.7 bb)
    MP3: 42,186 (14.1 bb)
    CO: 46,107 (15.4 bb)
    Hero (BTN): 58,568 (19.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 8 A
5 folds, Hero raises to ????

I think we just fold here. Looking at the stacks around the table and assuming we want to ladder as much as possible. SB has the stack and stats to 4bet us and we're folding, costing us 3-4bb. A8 isn't a terrible hand to shove if we were shorter stacked.

I think r/f is prob OK - BB being so short means that we have to have a fairly strong raising range so most V's are not going to be shoving junk from SB here. Not if they are playing aggro though

I would probably min-raise and fold to the SB and call off the BB. Shoving is probably slightly profitable $EV-wise, but I would only jam if the SB is going crazy with 3bets. The min-raise should look stronger than normal because you are raising into the shorty, so I don't think the SB goes crazy here, even with aggro stats and a chiplead (even though he should be jamming really wide).

I reckon shove, SB is only going to call with very good cards and you can pick up either 10BBs or 2.5BBs.

Would you shove if the SB flats after the BB goes all in?

So not sure about a raise SB can shove with a wide range. He may even shove strong hands and to call with a good but not great cards with out much damageto his stack.

He'll be getting 2/1 plus the potential for another 12BB's

So the recommendations are: one shove, two r/f, and one open fold. I guess this confirms that the spot was close. :P

I think with icm implications we have to r/c bb r/f to sb.

As mentioned our range looks strong opening into supershortie, if sb has a clue he should know we are not stealing and thus wouldn't 3b light often.

wouldn't flame anyone for shoving tho for sure
