Not sure I like the x/c line here. Villain is going to have a lot of suited Ax, middle pairs, and Broadway type stuff calling on the BTN. Let's assume we can eliminate JJ+/AK from his range. So you have the range advantage because you can have all sets and overpairs, as well as AKcc. And there are a lot of cards you don't want to see on the turn (any J-A, any club). So I think I bet the flop, and would likely use villain's sizing. I would go into x/c mode on any bad turn card, and likely bet/fold any brick.

I also cbet flop, but prolly a smaller sizing (like 80k).

OTT, I think I'm trying to get to showdown, so I x/c the 8 even though V shouldn't have many 8's in his range (A8s, maybe 89s, 78s).

    OTR, x/c bricks.

If your going to check call flop your better off check/raising all in in this spot IMO.

I would bet flop instead and if called or raised probably start looking for the fold button.

so the consensus seems to be b/f the flop and give up if V flats?
    - don't love this as it turns a hand with decent sdv into a bluff and we can easily end up folding the best hand if V is at all aggressive -
but also don't love the x/c line either

    Re: 99 oop

I wouldn't say we turn our hand into a bluff. We are still ahead of most of V range, because most top Pairs would have been 3bet pre. We just betting for value against his draws and dont want give overcards a free card. I am not sure if i would fold against a raise since i just see him having Tx like Ats,KTs ,Qts,Jts,and maybe T9s and he will not raise them all for value probably and he is raising some flushdraws. Depending on the Turncard i just x/c turn because he can still flushdraws and the evaluate River

I would be min-raising pre at this stack depth. I like the check call on the flop. Don't want to bloat the pot OOP with a marginal hand. I think OTT if you call you have to call down non club rivers, and the 99 without a club is much better than with one.

the reason u posted this hand is there is no good way to respond to his turn bet. U either guess heís FOS or u fold and potentially allow yourself to be owned

If anything itís a nice lesson
on how to use position to make peopleís lives miserable when they are super deep in a large field and have an ok but vulnerable stack

I think what I would do is c bet and barrel turn to rep a big pair . Most people wonít leak so many crucial chips to float twice . If he calls two barrels your 9s are no good

lol you are spot on about why I posted - I guessed he was FOS and shoved and of course he had KTs - I like the reasoning to barrel twice because most people won't float twice at this stage - even though this turns our hand into a bluff.

maybe Persian Punisher's line is better if we know that V is a good player

    thanks all

It's kinda interesting spot cos I think he can raise the flop here with a variety of hands and put you in a tough spot for sure. I don't mind check calling on both streets and reevaulate river on this particular hand vs a button flat.
