I'm a cash game player, starting playing mtts in the last monthys.
I don't rebember very well which level it was. But it was almost ITM situations.
The villain was new at the table, no stats.
1- std 3b call?
2- I'm not sure about his range. I put him on a linear range like 8%. I solve using the GTO+, and we have to call with a frequency of 50%.
But what we should do in a MTT situation?
THank you, guys
I think normal 3 bet here is 99+; AQ+. So you are at the bottom of his range. Half of a time you are like 60/30 better on the flop (32 combos) and half of the time you are much worse (30 combos). I'd call here pre and fold on the flop though. Don't wanna guess. Our hand is a bluffcatcher. Do we wanna catch a bluff with a good probability of a bust ITM? Opinion of a humble fish. Correct me guys if I'm wrong.
Close. You're not going to be far ahead ever because his range will definitely include AQcc/AKcc and some TT/JJ too. But assuming he doesn't have QQ-AA you're also not going to be far behind either. This is a spot where you're calling off as a 50/50 basically.
If he only does this with overcards and never has TT/JJ then it becomes a clear call however.
Close.. Calling three bets with pocket nines and 35 bigs becomes a tricky situation. I don't mind folding because calling OOP with nines this short just sucks and 4 bet jamming would be somewhat reckless. I'm fine with a call though. When he just jams flop, a call can look really enticing but I think a fold reigns supreme. He's going to have you crushed some of the time, and when you're not crushed he'll sometimes have AK/AQ clubs so you're basically flipping. You best scenario is him having like AK offsuit and even then he's drawing to a substantial amount of outs.

I agree with this.
For me the "problem" with this hand is pre , we got stuck in an OOP situation with a low SPR and playing a guessing game for our tournament life
Call me nitty , but i fold against a standard reg
As for his range i suppose it´s two clubs with one or two overcards OR just overpairs who wants to protect vs draws + get value from lesser overpairs
4bet jam with 99 prints at this depth if you have any reason to believe 3bettor is a little out of line. "oh you're trying to bully me on the bubble? Let's go"
