Why do you feel the need to post a thread every time you get a bad beat or a cooler. This is not thread worthy and is very standard.

I want to make sure is there merit to check the turn and get away from river.

At that point the only he called I could think of was overpair with a spade on it

There's your mistake. Why would you think he couldn't have suited overcards and floated the flop? Sure, pot odds weren't great, but his implied odds were favorable. If he hits a spade on the turn or river, he'll likely get most or all of your chips. And there is potential that you'll check the turn (a lot of players do after their nearly-pot sized flop bet was called), so he could get two shots at hitting his flush for 8k chips. He'll have enough chips remaining to get away if he doesn't hit.

I think we check a spade on the turn. Unless the board pairs on the river, after a spade turn, we probably check there too. And when he bets into us, we determine whether to call or not based on his bet size. We either say "nh" when he shows his made flush. Or we sigh-fold and work on spinning our stack back up.

I check behind on the turn. Villain x/c a very large bet on the flop after raising pre, so a flush draw is going to make up a big part of his range. If he had an overpair he wouldn't be checking that flop multiway. And he's probably not floating oop with single spade overcards when you bet so big. When you bet the turn you're only going to fold out all the hands you beat and are betting right into his flush. Check and hope the board pairs on the river.

This is a good point. JJ, TT, 99 would all bet that flop. Too dynamic of a board to check if you're holding an overpair.

I checked AA with a spade in hand twice into 3 opponents on Jxx with 2 spades board and folded to aggression, ended up someone hit a flush on turn during satellite.

Overpairs with a spade in hand is possible
