I consider villain would just minraise or flat with real monster hands (QQ-AA), so yeah i would just take the spot, which also makes you capable of punish other 2 smaller stacks if you will win it, which highly improves your chance to go for 1st

As for how to approach spots like this - i am usually trying to apply the common sense here, tell a story, f.e.:
hero is on 4th place but currently has almost as many chips as the 3rd on CO
the 2nd on BB has ~25% more chips
BTN is a huge CP and he is within his right to abuse SB and BB by shoving any two cards
hero doesn't want to play against BTN because if hero gets busted then then CO guarantees the 3rd place without any efforts.
Also, hero is interested to let BB call and take his chances because if BB loses, hero guarantees the 3rd place and will fight for the 2nd.
Hence, the calling range should be very, very narrow here. HRC might tell you that AQo is fold and that's all right.
