First post in a few months. One area of my game I've been working on is my 3-betting ranges preflop. This is a hand from the Hotter $11 on Stars that I think is a tough 3b spot.
The only info I have on villain is that he has been quite active in a small sample of 17 hands.

Reasons to 3b
1) We could be ahead of villain's range so 88 could be a value 3b here
2) If we flat we invite a multi-way pot and will often end up playing 88 for set value only
3) We take the initiative away from villain postflop (if he flats our 3b)
4) If we flat we risk a squeeze from one of the players behind, especially the blinds who both have perfect squeeze-shove stacks
Reasons to flat
1) Given villain's 33bb effective stack, are we prepared to call off half our stack with 88 if he shoves over our 3b? If not, are we wasting the value of 88 by 3b/folding?
2) Also given villain's stack size, if we 3b and he calls, we set up a low SPR situation with a hand that doesn't do well in low SPR spots.
3) Villain still has a deep enough stack that we can profitably set-mine with 88
4) Is 88 strong enough to want to entice a squeeze-shove from one of the blinds?
Thoughts?
