in the money here, ~ 700 remaining. The villain was just moved to this table, had only 5 hands then playing 60/0 and a note from candy-notes that he limps early A7o.
Would you played differently? do you ever find a call on river as played?
Yes definitely start with a check being oop, we want to have some strong hands in our checking range and we dont get x3 streets from worse anyway so this is a great spot to open with a check both for the game tree and our range overall.
As played, turn you have to decide whether to go for your hand or not, I think its a pretty clear fold. We can't really call turn to fold to brick rivers at this spr, ie: there will be 96k in middle and we have 59k behind otr if we call turn
Thank you too wowsoooted, it makes perfect sense yes to x/c flop , haven’t really thought about it.
At that time I called turn as well considering he’ll shutdown with Qx, Ax, all his bluffs or maybe bottom two pairs too and thought I can get at showdown. Considering he shoved river don’t think he 3barrels here so decided to fold.
For sure starting with a check would’ve been the best play and will keep that in mind.
...and if I peeled flop I'd fold turn. Broadway completes and the question is not "how often am I good?" but "how often do I win?". How often will you realise your equity.
If you're never felting river then you'd do well to let it go on an earlier street when villain shows an appetite to barrel thrice.
You beat almost nothing ott apart from a backdoor fd. And you only beat an airball otr. Agree with checking flop with weak ace but betting fine too as long as u plan to check turn when called
Bet the flop most of the time and fold the turn as played. You can check your weaker part of your aces but the whole point of having A4s is to be able to bet this flop and have backdoor playability hands.
True but i think the playability is more for when you dont flop top pair. With the weak ace you arent getting 3 streets without improving so im not sure there is additional value in betting flop. Checking weak aces is great for protecting your checking range otherwise you are always weakish when you check.
Desp ill check certain aces of course but overall most my range isn't getting 3 streets and I'd like to get most the time and check some worse aces and the strongest ones sometimes to not cap my range. I'd pref to be able to bet JTdd etc too. I can check my non backdoor weak aces and sometimes a4ss and c/c Qx hands as well.
