Where to move next? Where to move next?

Hey everyone

I'm thinking about moving in the next 4-5 years to some other location but I need your advice on where to go.

I'm looking for a place with:
* I hate cloudy and rainy conditions (like Holland). Cold is no problem, but blue sky's and sunny is important (or warm obviously).
* Poker taxes need to be affordable.
* Education (the people) and infrastructure (like western society)
* Close to some nice activities; Mountains, Beach, Forrest etc.
* Nice food culture would be nice. I'm a foodie.
* Visa needs to be possible. I'm a european citizen so Europe would be perfect obviously. But i've got an open mind.

Any info, idea's, experiences or opinions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

All nice options but some info on the how's and what's from your point of view? The taxes in relation to poker etc.

Portugal is big. Where do you suggest is best? Algarve is great and they've got great surf.... Portimao I've been before, the town is really nice and a great ambiance but is there better?

I would like some info about the places. From people living there. What's awesome to do in that area etc.

I did a lot of googling already and found nice places. But no info is better then first hand information from people knowing what they are talking about.

Canada. Everyone who's come here from abroad that is a poker player loves it. Take your pick: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary (lolfiraldo_whatafish) or Ottawa.

Exceeds expectation in every criteria you listed.

No, nothing to do with taxes in brazil. Taxes in brazil are unclear as far as i know. You pay on what comes into your bank account (i got an accountant that takes care of this) once a year. BUT.. the country is so big and unstructured, there are more ways then one to pay taxes. I know 4 different prof. pokerplayers from brazil. All do something different..... Live poker is insanely taxed inside brazil. outside, no experience.

Reason for moving is that I'm getting older, kids are possible in the near future and brazil is lovely but some things are missing here that I hope to find in other places.

Besides, live is an adventure and I would love to experience more of the world. Cultures, adventures etc.

Australia is a lonnnnngggggggggggg way away but actually ticks all of your boxes minus knowing too much about visa. Idk if you are student or not but it's pretty easy if you are i think (can't be 100% sure).

Plus, one huge upside is that if you are interested in live tournies then we have the softest and it's really easy to travel within aus.

vancouver has mild winters but is cloudy/rainy a lot.

calgary gets tons of sun, even in the winter. winters can be crazy cold at times but at least are broken up by chinooks (warm winds that come in now and then and melt the f out of the snow: temps can swing from -20 to +20 over a few hours).

montreal has a euro flare.

toronto is the center of the universe.

In Europe I'd probably do Portugal. I'd go somewhere a bit norther on the coast away from the touristy stuff. They have sick surfing villages up there too but I've forgotten the names, was a long time ago when I was traveling there.

Malta is good for like 6 months but it gets old pretty quick in my opinion.

I'm like you when it comes to weather and these two countries are the only ones in Europe with the current political bs (Spain France Italy Greece off limits) I'd probably consider as I definitely am a beach guy as well. I think Croatia could be worth looking into but I know nothing about it.

Australia is awesome but aren't they possibly closing down online poker soon? Plus impossible for a poker player to get a visa for longer than 3 months and you can't do "visa runs" like you can in some Asian countries. If you're not on a budget could be awesome to do say 3 months of AU 3 months of NZ then another 3 months of AU. But you'd have to snap go as the summer already started and it's gonna be cold in 6 months there.

You're probably oi South America since you were in Brazil for a long time so not touching on that.

I don't know anything about South Africa but there are a few regs from there I see around so I guess it's allowed and I have a hunch it could be amazing.

There're some Asian countries that are cheap, have good weather etc and that allow online poker but there's always tons of small problems there (half the sites don't work, skrill doesn't work, internet sucks on the islands, etc etc).

Honestly I think given everything Europe is your best bet and I'd personally probably choose Portugal. If for nothing else, the piri-piri chicken.

NZ/AUS are awful for the online timezone but pretty much all of your requirements are met depending on where you travel. tax is non-existant and im fairly sure they are super lax about visas. As long as you avoid the far south of NZ where the weather sucks balls. As MJW said the live scene here is lolsoft and all events are within a couple of hours distance from eachother. GL OP.

Depends how you want to look at it really. I love the fact that I start really early and finish often times by midday (bc im terrible), and have the whole afternoon to enjoy. If Randy wants to actually enjoy the country he is in then surely this cannot be a bad thing.

And South Island of NZL sure probably isn't the weather he's looking for but would never recommend anyone away from it bc it's amazing for numerous other reasons. Weather in summer when I've been there isn't that bad anyways really, though I could be wrong I haven't spent THAT long there.
