Playing in the 100K Live! Size Multi Flight at Philly Live!.
$450 buyin. This was announced before the hand as the final hand of Day 1. Not yet at the bubble.

Hero in MP with about 35BB effective.

Both villains on the button and SB have me covered. Button has SB covered. Button is a player who has called more than 50% of opens, SB looks like a clone of Junior Soprano who is a wild and unpredictable player.

Hero opens As Ac to ~2.2 BB. Both the button and SB call.

Flop comes 3c9s3s.

SB open shoves for effective ~35BB. There is some commotion from the other players at the table regarding the sizing of the bet. This is not the first time the SB player has open shoved following a preflop call.

Hero: ???

Has he shown down any of those previous shoves?

Regardless, I'm calling after thinking for about 5 seconds. He ain't open shoving 99 and doing it with 3x would be idiotic too. Players like this could be making this play with a range of hands you beat: flush draws, overcards, even small pairs.

He had not shown down previously. Agreed with the above which is why I called.

To finish out the hand, I go ahead and call, and the button then instant calls. SB shows Qs10s, button shows 5c3d (ouch).

Runout goes 4h, 8s giving Junior Soprano his flush.

That's ugly. But at least our read on SB was correct

Only risk is that we block the Ax flush draws and that is half his expected SB flat fd range gone

But hey, if he is known wild and donking 35bb into 8bb pot then he probably has any two suited cards in his flat range too

However that means he has substantial 3x in range

Also, BTN can have almost a2c, so he has all 3x

Without the As this is a snap, but with the As and with both opponent ranges containing unusual amounts of 3x it is not a snap. Not a fold either, but not a snap.

A minor consideration is whether there is another flight/s. These $450 live are absurdly good value / high ROI. Edge passes are a thing too.

Yeah I would call but tbh I would hate it and have explo-folded better than this
