Hi,

Would be pleased to get some feedback of the hands below from a live No-Limit Holdem tournament I played recently.
I have no reads.

Hand no.1
1st day
SB = 800
BB = 1,600
BB-ante = 1,600

Hero = 77,200 (48 BB). LJ
Villain = 87,000 (54 BB). BB.

Hero is dealt AqJd and raises from LJ to 3,200 (2 BB). Big blind calls.
Pot = 8,800

FLOP: Qq8dJs
Big blind checks
Hero c-bets 4,200
Big blind calls
Pot = 17,200

TURN: Jq
Big blind checks
Hero bets 12,000
Big blind calls
Pot = 41,200

RIVER: Ts
Big blind bets 25,000
Hero tanks and fold

Hand no.2
2nd day
Remaining players = 94 of 416
Players paid = 63
1st prize = $67,000
Min-cash= $2,050

SB = 2,000
BB = 5,000
BB-ante = 5,000

Hero = 58,000 (11,6 BB). BB
Villain = Massive. Chip leader. SB

Blinds going up next hand to 3,000-6,000-6,000.

Hero is dealt Q3o
Folds to SB. SB completes. Hero checks.
Pot = 15,000

Flop: 63J rainbow
Small blind checks
Hero goes all-in
Small blind calls with A6o
Turn and River runs out blank

Was that to reckless? I guess I could have checked the hand to showdown and still have 8 big blinds left. But I wanted to defend my big blind when I got a piece of that flop and the opportunity to increase my stack with 26%.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I appreciate it.

On the first hand I like checking the turn there. If you are beat it keeps the pot smaller and it really disguises the strength of your hand. It will make the villain think their hand is better.

The bust hand is tough. You have 11bbs and are on life support. You are going to need to take a gamble and this one isn't terrible. The key is not getting to 11bbs to being with. If you have 15-18bbs here you have a lot more fold equity.

The first hand, AJ makes a really nice bluff combo. You still have good boats in your range and block BB from having boats with your jack. You will put 9x into a tough spot and win every time they are bluffing.

This second hand is very spewy. You are shoving 4x pot where you can't get called by worse and have little equity when behind. The standard play is to bet 1bb and evaluate or check back and evaluate.

H1 I think I would bet smaller on flop and hammer turn if we wanna go bet bet. I think flop bet is too big- we wanna keep sizing small- I’m always cbetting this flop also as we have a range advantage against a bb defend. River is a nice fold in an underbluffed spot.

H2- I wouldn’t mind ripping pre at a small freq. As played idk yea bet small and don’t spew. We can get folds with small sizing so why rip when we only are called by better. Bet 1bb and exploit.

H2- I feel we get bad kx to fold sometimes and weaker hands we don’t want to run against. Idk if I like limp by sb. A6o I would just rip against 11bb. I think live players tend to check back in bb too often where doing this as a trap is kinda bad. Ripping may be a tad spewy pre but idk if we get 76 or 56 to fold- it’s nice to pick up bbs without seeing all 5.

Agreed. I think this flop calls for closer to a 1/3 pot c-bet size. And I like following that up with a big turn bet, too.

Hand 2, I'd just minbet the flop and go from there.

What suit is "q"?
