Say i am in a tournament with 30k starting stack and blinds every 20 mins starting at 100/100 and moving up.

If i win a pot for 12k how coveted are my chips? do i play abc poker with good hands
or do i focus on moving upwith the levels.?

how does accumulation of chips work in terms of when i raise pre or call pre but don't hit and i attempt floats and bluffs etc.

i know its player dependant
and stack to pot ratios . Im asking based on i do ok when i can hit a hand and get paid off or bluff a weaker reg. I can get to say 60k no problem but then in a couple hands im drawing and hit nothing or i get rivered and lose 20k.

I only seem to really move up when i shove all in when the blinds force me too because i am short stacked.

This is a game played in my local casino by the way just wanted some insights from people please.

Not really sure what you are asking.
You're only focus should be to play good, solid poker. You can't really focus on "moving up with the levels". If you get dealt 72o every hand you should fold.

Not a huge tournament guy here, but I think one of my weaknesses is thinking 'long term' way too soon and peaking over at average stack too much. At least until you start to approach the money bubble, each tournament hand needs to be it's own 'tournament'. Position, stack sizes in BB, images, dead money all come into consideration.

If it's still 100/200 why are you playing 100BB pots on a draw? Is that how you got to 300BB in the first place? Probably not. Sure, in a 20 minute Turbo you need to be aware of the structure, but as stated above you shouldn't force your way into situations unless your stack fits the spot.

If you're comfortable playing 20BB and below then don't stress about staying at 60BB. You want the other guy overvaluing their holding and undervaluing their stack by overplaying the spot.

If you win 12k the first hand how valuable are they? The value is in knowing that you ARE NOT the effective stack if you get into a great (not good) spot where the effective stack may actually come into play. Otherwise don't tax your stack just because 'it's there' .. let the other guy open for 7bb instead of 3.5 or whatever the going rate should be.
