Taking notes - what and how? Taking notes - what and how?

i take notes this way:

fish icon- explains itself
yellow - breakeven player or medium roi over a small sample size
orange - solid (5%+, but im playing at the low limits) roi over a medium/big sample size, or very high roi like 15-20% over a tiny sample (500-1000 games)
red - top reg at the limit

im only play turbos, i think 5-7%+ doesnt means solid at low limit regular speed games...

notes taken by this form

year/month (i think its important bc if you met again w/ a player months later there is a possibility to theyre not playing the exact same game)
blind level - players - situation (including position, stack setup, etc).

im playing 6max and i found it its very easy to taking notes at 5-6handed play and low blind levels but im recently affraid of taking notes from the bubble and high blind play even if i see something because im aware it would be misleading at the future games...

I play too many tables to take really good notes. However my notes fall into a few catagories.

Firstly if a random does something awful, they get a 'lol donk, stupid moron' etc note - they get rudder the worse mood im in. These notes aren't esp helpful but just incase i get in some meh spot vs them another time i know they are awful, or if i want to get AK allin pre first level etc. Also people who shove preflop or 3bet random cards and showdown get noted on.

Secondly there are bad regs, which is where most of my notes are. These are people that play enough i notice them, or mass multitablers but that aren't v good-breakeven. I take fairly detailed notes on these people since this is where a good amount of money comes from at the 60s.

Then there are the really good players like bigjoe/darinvg/littlejohn and a few others who i barely have notes on since they play well and don't do anything really that can be exploited/taken advantage of. If they do anything i feel can be useful obv i note it, but for the most part my note just says they are v good incase somehow i forget or they change avatar and i get confused or w/e

And lastly there are the good but not amazing regs who make mistakes/do some things badly but generally play well. Again here i have quite a few notes and they come in useful. Stuff like 3betting range, if i've seen them run a bluff, betting tendencies, if they shove ATC sb v my bb or they tighten up etc

I probably over-note in the sense that it sometimes ends up distracting me from playing on tables. I take a lot of notes while reviewing hands played which I do a lot.

since i play on ftp with the color-coding / lobby i take a lot of SS notes and have a coding system (replaced colors with icons) to easily identify the bad games.

I'll try to take a note on anything useful i see. I try to be detailed where I can but usually I just get frustrated and just tag them with the icon (i,e; fish bowl, heart, etc) which will give me a pretty good idea of what kind of player they are.
If the note is really easy to put into words I do that (i.e; t100 4h btn limp/call 13b w Q7o)
I used to try to write out full HHs for early game stuff (lol) but now I just try to generalize it to stuff like "lol stacks off soooo light" or w/e and I incorporate a lot funny chat to make playing more enjoyable

"his ss graph goes \"

A new thing i started doing to recongnize players that allow you to steal their BB from bb100 and up which is most , but just to make sure, i just put a Capital X on the note box. X=bhahahahaha, you fold every BB unless you wake up with a monster. YUM!

I have alot of notes on most regulars, bad or good and dont worry about randoms like others have said.

Absolutely. I personally use 5 color codes to rate players from clueless to someone I'd rather avoid. I try to rate everyone I play with so that I can quickly scan the SNG lobby and decide if it's a game I want to jump into.

I just wish I could do the same with cake.

I have colour code all my notes. I make the majority of them on the bubble when I see the chip leader calling the second place stack with J3s. Or when the CL is playing the bubble or has no knowledge of ICM.

I use green=loose, red=tight, yellow is in the middle just for a quick reference plus its easy even with tables popping up all over.
