Got berated by villain here for this play and told him I would not discuss my strategy, if he asks again he can come here

both of us are on 25BB, even tho he covers by a tiny margin and there is a bounty, i don't care right now about his bounty, was going for the 3x bounty by calling IP

9 handed, folds to MP2, MP2 has an extra bounty as a sponsor of the tournament thats 3x the regular bounty and has 24BB, raises 3x, hero calls, folds to villain in BB who shoves, MP2 folds, hero calls

this seems pretty standard to me and i'll explain if anyone asks

he had TT and i won the race

Yeah, I think it would help to explain. It really comes down to his shoving ranges and your equity against them. If you think he's squeeze-shoving any suited broadway here then KQo is a fine call. If you think he's playing tighter and shoving big aces and medium+ pairs then it's not. If you think he's shoving wider because he's also trying to pick up that bounty, then it's fine.

I would like to know your reasoning and what range you think he's shoving.

If you were going for the bounty did you consider 3-betting MP2 and getting it in preflop?

You could possibly 3-bet shove unexploitably depending on the other stacks/bounty sizes and the openers range.

Flat seems questionable vs the 3x but it seems a call is correct vs the jam. The price you are being laid and the value of chipping up in a bounty tournament should more than make up for the equity disadvantage of your hand vs the squeeze range, assuming it's not exceptionally tight.

The KQo is one of my least favorite hands because of the reversed implied odds. It all depends on what info you have on the initial shover. The real issue (imho) here is that the initial x3 opener's range often contains a K or a Q which removes one of your outs, when you call the shove you will 99% of the times be an underdog and the fact that the special bounty guy had folded removes the "juiciness" of the call. But it's all theoretical, of course.

I would also 3 bet jam with the top of my range vs an x3 opening with a big bounty. The sizing tells they would most likely not fold, so that's probably what the villain was doing and in this case KQo is crushed.

No one judges the winners! GG WP.

yeah i wanted to jam pre for the bounty but the sponsor was a stone cold amateur and i felt i'd have a better chance stacking him post flop than pre

reason i decided to call is because i put the OR on an ace which removed villains AQ/AK combos
