I don't doubt that JR asked SD to post this or that SD took pains to accurately convey what JR told him, but I still think it's inappropriate for John to ask someone else to post this for him. Even though we know that this is second-hand information, the tone of Shaun's post is very matter-of-fact and conveys the impression that this is something that objectively happened rather than one person's side of the story. Even if it's later corrected, getting a detail wrong in the initial post is going to influence people's perception of the situation, so the story ought to be told first-hand.

I don't understand why after weeks of waiting this has to be posted at a time when John can't be bothered to take a break from playing to make this accusation himself.

Don't get me wrong, I think this sounds bad, I think Sorel never should have been allowed to play on FTP again, and everything I've ever seen him say or do has rubbed me the wrong way. I still think there's a better way to publicly accuse a member of the community of cheating. This is really more of a "shame on John" for asking Shaun to post this on his behalf rather than a "shame on Shaun" for posting it.

It's not like Shaun witnessed this. To the extent that JR lacks credibility, then that ought to reflect on the story. He shouldn't get to add the weight of Shaun's reputation to his story when Shaun is serving solely as a mouthpiece.
