Is this a snap call? Is this a snap call?

Playing in a local tournament $40 buy in with rebuys. We are at level 3 200/400

UTG(21k) makes it 1100
HJ(15k) calls
Dealer (Hero 40k 10d,10h ) call
BB(15k) calls

Most of the time I 3bet, but it was a new table so I decided to call and play post flop.
Flop (4600) was 10c,3h,8h
Checks around to me I bet small 1200 with my set. UTG check raises to 2500. Everyone else folds. I call.
Turn is Jh. UTG jams (17k) and in this spot most of the time I feel like it is a check raised flush draw on the flop that hit. I am 100% calling, but was just annoyed of the spot and villian thought I was showing weakness I guess. I took about 10 seconds and called. UTG turns over AhJc and was upset and said I should have snap called. Told him he could have played a flush that way and he shook his head annoyed at how long I took. I believe him having Ace of heart also would allow him to bluff, but his jam just looks like the nuts most of the time.

Is this always a snap call? I think if this was maybe a bigger buy in event and he had me covered I obviously would have to think of the decision, but maybe because I cover him it should be a snap call?

Whats your hand -- I guess its TT, 33 or 88. Anyhow, this is always a snap call on the turn at a $40 rebuy tournament when you have less than 100 bbs eff. To many non-flush hands here (as you sa), and you always have outs vs flush.

Who cares if some guy is annoyed you took your time to think the hand through?

It's definitely a call, but there's nothing wrong with taking your time to consider what hands he might do this with.

Yes, especially given it's a lowstakes live/local rebuy tourni and villain is clearly not thinking. In the grand scheme of things? Thinking about your decision is a good thing.

Agreed. Also, they said they had TT.

Never worry about making snap calls to shoves. Unless you have the nuts you are always entitled to think it through.

This guy was obviously upset that you have him beat and is taking it out on you. Which is obnoxious. It is not unusual though. When people are slow rolled (which is how he felt) they typically focus on the slow roll as if that is why they are devastated instead of on the fact that they lost the hand and are getting knocked out of the tournament.

The thing to glean from this in the moment is that UTG is likely tilted and may come after you moving forward if he buys back in and lands at your table. When I am in a situation where a guy is reaming me out after I have busted him I never escalate the discussion. I generally say "Thank You" as if his insults are somehow helping me develop into a better person. It often just ends the conversation. But the last thing I want to do is get into a fight with a player who has just been eliminated.

The other thing to note is that while it is extremely unlikely, UTG can have a flush that does not have a card bigger than your T so, in addition to hitting a boat on the river, you could possibly hit a bigger flush.

This is either a snap call or a sigh call based upon the player you are up against. You read him as a "flush that got there" so I would sigh call. It is always a call, though.

Personally, I would look back and confirm I had the Th which helps a little with this situation.

"Nice playing with you, sir" which means "Don't go away mad, but go away"
