Hi,

NL Holdem.

What is your play? Playing 8 handed. 29 get paid. Down to 37 left. You are short stacked. Blinds are 5k 10k and bb ante of 10k. They are about to go up to 6k 12k and ante 12k. An hour clock.

You are on the button with 120k. Mp player raises to 20k, guy next to him calls and guy in cut off calls. All playing fairly standard and are decent players. 85k in pot.

You have KJ off on the button. Is this a snap fold or shove?

Next round will cost be 30k and i will be down to 90k if i dont make a move. Average stack is around 400k. Villains have around 400 - 600k.

It's a lame spot. KQo and AJo will be get ins vs typical ranges in terms of cEV. Is KJo the top of your folding range or bottom of your jamming range? Readless I am indifferent.

You could decide based on the table activity level and therefore how likely you are to get an open jam opportunity in the following hands. High activity = low probability of getting to open jam in the near future, therefore take this thin spot. Low activity = high probability of getting to open jam in the near future, therefore fold and find a clearer spot.

Pretty active table. Always seems to be raises before me.

In addition to Ash's point, if it's an active table the open raiser might have something worse than you. The callers likely have medium pairs or suited connectors, all of which you are effectively flipping against. There is no reason to believe you are up against a hand that dominates you. If a tight player opened UTG, different story.

There's a lot of dead money out there. KJs or KQo is clearer cut but on balance I think you should go for it.

If you are saying you have 60 minute levels when you say "an hour clock", I would wait for a better hand than kj or be first all-in the pot with some fold equity.

I shoved and it passed to the guy on my right, he called with AQ and I was out. AQ was actually a good hand to be up against since on reflection, that would be more likely to be reraising pre. I think AJ and KQ was likely to be in their range and wish I thought of that at the time.

Trouble is I was hoping they had say a small pair. It would cost be 30k next round and with many raises I would have to get it in. If not, the round after and I would be down to 60k and would have to double up to get back to where I am at now.

Maybe a hand like 9 10 would be better jamming in that spot, not sure.
