Scouting and labelling opponents for SNGs Scouting and labelling opponents for SNGs

The reason I say this applies more to SNGs is because they are not scheduled and there is a smaller field, so it is easier to pass on the game if you see a difficult field. I generally play 9-18 man games.

Is anyone else big into labelling opponents and then game selecting for the most profitable ones? I generally look players up on Sharkscope and label them orange if they are profitable or show an ability higher than 60. It seems like 50 is the lowest number Sharkscope hands out for ability. For those players I color them blue or light blue.

I label players who hide their stats pink. These players could be winning or losing players, but I tend to believe these players would more often be winning than losing. I think a winning player would be attentive to know that they are giving off information when others can see their win/loss record. A more casual player might not even be aware what Sharkscope is, and wouldn't make the effort to hide stats.

It can be annoying seeing alot of lobbies filled up with winning regulars. Weekends are nicer because I see fewer players that I've labelled, so I assume alot of those are casuals.

Anyone else have any tips and ideas for getting the most from labelling opponents and game selecting?

No replies here, sweet!

I've also been using Poker Pro Labs for scouting opponents stats and playing background as well. Its nice that it doesn't have limited searches. I definitely feel that game selection is a big part of your win rate, as most of the money you win comes from the weaker players.

Nowadays you either game select or complete samples within reason. Most players seem to prefer the second path, with leaderboards the high RB% somewhat compensates the reg infested games

I remember I played on Full Tilt back in the day and they had an SnG leaderboard. I just checked on Pokerstars, but it looks like they only have leaderboards for cash games and Spin and Goes.
