25bb stack mid tournament ($109 6-max freezeout)

In small blind with Q8o.

Villain has 10bb in BB.

Folds around to me.

I shoved.

A push fold chart would suggest a shove with Q8o is +EV with a 10bb stack. Is this applicable when it’s an effective stack of 10bb or should I more commonly with limp calling/folding to a shove with my 25bb stack?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure it's the same calculation when it's an effective stack as in this case, yeah. So shove is fine.

This is a chip ev simulation, but note that, with even small ICM, the chips you gain/lose are more valuable when going from 10BB to bust. What this means is that you can shove a tiny bit looser and Villain calls off a tiny bit tighter.

If you were playing HU and had position, completing might be better. OOP, you need to shove. I am assuming 1xBB ante, and that is very significant. As the other poster mentioned, it helps that BB has 10xBB and should call tighter.

I am learning from smarter poker players. I love this forum. Thanks.

If the charts say it’s a +ev shove, take it unless there is some sort of insane bubble implications. Easy shove, sucks if villian calls and has better and we lose. Part of mtt play when we are in the blinds against a short stack of 10bb

The bubble implications would lean us towards more jams, since we cover. For example, on the stone bubble of a large MTT, a 10BB stack has to call VERY tight.
