Hi all,

Hero is playing a $360 and started with 30bb in an ante structure tourney. Blinds are 600/1,200 with 1,200 bb ante. We open QQ to 2k in EP and get four callers. We are nowhere near the money.

Flop (9.2k): 775r. Checks through.

Turn: 5 no fd. Hero bets 3k, folds to BTN who raises to 10k, folds to hero HU now. BTN has been playing a lot of hands, has showed down suited connectors so all low cards are in his range.

Thanks,
DT

Assuming your open was to 3k and not 2k?

I would call here and then see what happens on the river.

If villain has a 7 and slow played it on the flop, I don't see them changing course here and raising after he makes a boat. Similarly with a 5, I think villain is more likely to call and let you put more money in on the river.

This board definitely hits his range more ,so I think that is what he is trying to represent and get you to fold most of your range which would have completely missed this board.

The issue with making a delayed C-bet is, many players will think, you have capped your range, and that they can get you to fold by raising turn and barreling river. But he have also capped his range by checking back, when you checked to him. So barring any particular live reads, you might have, I would call this raise and then also call most rivers. And yeah sometimes he will completely own you with a full house, but I think, you will get shown enough random bluffs to make this long term profitable.

+1 to what Fund said, but I would definitely be betting this flop. I do think most buttons with a 7x/5x would bet the flop after it checks to them, so odd for him to raise the turn. Furthermore from a theory perspective he obviously has a great spot to raise if you fold essentially your whole range to his raise, so I can't see folding at this point.
