About 30 minutes after the bubble burst in the WSOP Seniors, I min raise from UTG1 with JTs off 20BB. I get called in 5(!) places. Flop is 722 with a flush draw, I have no suits. I continue for 1/5 pot, and get called in 2 spots, cutoff and button. Turn is an off suit 9, I jam for pot...flame away

I’m perfectly fine with the open as it’s GTO approved. 5 ways I’m in shutdown mode post though unless we flop/ turn a ton of equity. Like for turn I would want a flush draw and straight draw honestly. I think this is a punt. In a seniors event, I’m never getting out of kin me in this spot. Flop I would just happily check fold and save my stack. 1/5 is going to be called so wide and by hands that crush your like Ax etc.

Btw I like the min open sizing. I think it would be massive mistake to make it day 2.2x/2.5x/3x like some recs will do in spots like this. You aren’t a rec though (you post here ha!). Nice hand, just hate the post flop action. Good luck in Vegas 3!

This thread never got going.

In game I thought the flop bet was quite marginal, but I was laying myself a very good price, and most of my opponents were likely to be more concerned with the actual bet size than the fraction of the pot. As such, I thought I might actually get it through, as this board is quite hard to hit.

Once I get two flats on the flop, and a very good card for me comes on the turn, the jam seemed best. I was unlikely to be against a slow played 2 (the IP players only have A2s), and at best 7x and flush draws. If they do call with those hands, I still have 21% equity if my overcards are both live, which they figure to be. I'd be worse off versus a flush draw that was ahead of me now, like Axss for example, that leaves me with just 7 outs.

Not to result the hand, but the jam did get through, and I almost doubled up to a very useful stack size. I wonder how I'd feel if they called and showed me 77 or A2 (or 99, I guess)

I think you are maniac if you can do this and get away with it. What is your table image like?

My image was nothing too special. Perhaps a bit TAG, but not extreme in any way.

Is it 722 or 772? Your OP said 772 but your writing here suggests 722.

I actually do mostly like your reasoning here, I just think it's incredibly optimistic to c-bet into five people and get it through, even on a board this dry and hard to hit.

Yes, 722. I’ll amend the OP. I wouldn’t have tried this on 772 as there is far more 7x than 2x in the ranges of the Villains. It’s too late to edit.

OP edited to 722

Nice run / cash OP

I would check the flop. But once you bet the flop it looks like you could have an overpair. From a sizing standpoint I would bet about 1/3 pot if I bet.

The turn is a great GTO card to jam on. Your chances of improving improved. You have a strong chance of getting 7x to fold because it looks a lot like an overpair.

I would never do this because I don't typically bluff against 4+ players but I am impressed with it.

What I like about it is that you were in the money and without a lot more chips you were going to basically min cash anyway.

So yes you punted but they failed to block it and then fumbled the return.
