When I started experiencing it today I opened the network status dialog in the Stars client. Whenever the lag happened, there were never any dropped packets to the PokerStars website, it was instead a long lag to Manx Telecom which is based on the Isle of Man like Stars. So maybe the problem is a non-Stars server before data packets actually reach Stars servers.

Mentioned this a couple weeks back in MTT thread and my problems were echoed by quite a few. Seems to have been a problem since the update implementing new final tables and viewable payouts in the lobby.

I've been running my computer with my anti-virus software turned off whenever I play and it seems to help up to a point.. but then the lag comes back if I add more than 12 tables

This is so LOL

Standard reply - "First, it is important to understand how the Internet works. When data flows from your computer to a remote site....blah blah blah...In the end, the simple truth is that no site, not even PokerStars can assume responsibility for the stability..."

PS don't give a **** and its even funnier that we expect them to,me included.

Signed, this has been going on for a while now and is clearly an issue at stars end as it is experienced by the majority of grinders around the world.

It is totally unacceptable for stars to play this down as a minor issue. It is a very serious issue causing loss of time banks / timeouts during important hands / general tilt.

The issue is entirely stars fault, therefore you should be issuing compensation. If you cannot give chip equity due to having paid out the prizepools in the normal fashion, then you should be offering people a percentage refund of their rake paid during the period when the lag has been occurring (at least a week+).

In any case, this needs to be fixed as a matter of utmost urgency.

So my housemate (Zeelandboy) wrote to support requesting refund and they said they couldn't offer any chip equity refunds as prizepools have already been paid out.

I have sent them this email today:

Hi Support,

I'm sure you are aware that there have been ongoing latency issues at your site for at least a week. I am a professional poker player, living with other players and also in constant discussion with many players around the world via skype and the twoplustwo forums. Therefore I know that this is a very serious widespread issue affecting the majority of players, and I also know that this is entirely the fault of Pokerstars and no one else.

A forum thread has been made here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/61...stars-1172544/, in which your representatives try to play this issue down. This is totally ridiculous as any frequent player will know that this has been happening repeatedly and is affecting the majority of players.

I am writing to urge you to address this issue as soon as possible. In addition I would like a partial percentage refund of my rake paid over the period of time this issue has been occurring, which is at least a week+. I understand that you cannot offer chip equity refunds in this case, as prizepools have been paid out already, therefore you should be offering whatever refunds you can since this is your fault - and as such a rake refund seems the most reasonable solution.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

"Our developers have looked into this and assured us that the recent issues have been unrelated to the sizes of tournaments running at the time. It was very unfortunate that one such issue occurred right as the Sunday Storm was about to begin play, but it wasn't related to the Storm in any way. Similarly, the issue from a few days ago was at a period of relatively low activity with no huge tournaments in progress (or about to start) and wasn't related to tournament play, though tournaments were affected. We will of course do everything we can to ensure that the site runs as smoothly as possible during the series, and every day, in fact. I realize that the disruptions are upsetting, and can only assure you that our developers are working diligently to prevent future issues."

Will be quoted again I'm sure.

Obviously this and +1 to the whole thread really. Sent Stars an email earlier, this is pretty terrible. I've recently noticed other poker clients I play on running smoother overall than Stars........

c'mon. Its obvious there is a widespread problem if you just watch a few tables (unless you think player decision times have suddenly shot up!)

I have had lag problems for the last 2 weeks on PS, especially bad over the last weekend. I know its PS, not my PC, since I play multi sites and the others continue working while PS is lagging. Sometimes I even find some PS tables update while others are lagging at the same time. I am UK based and play MTTs primarily.

It peaked for me at 8pm GMT yesterday, as the Red Spade was seating. I timed out of all my tables, and for the next half hour or so I was unable to sit back in at some tables while others were unaffected. Seems silly to suggest the issue isn't caused by major MTTs. The SNG lobby was a good 5 seconds behind all day, and I've become used to a second or two of lag between actions in 180s on a sunday pretty much since Christmas.

The Micro Millions is going to make this unbearable! Reminds me of the FTP days, every time they ran the BLT and Double Deuce their forum would be swamped with tens of thousands of angry grinders and microfish complaining that the client was frozen. Stars have always coped better than the competition with huge fields, but recently a definite problem has surfaced and it needs sorting.

As others have said, we pay a staggering amount of money in rake and in exchange we expect a superior level of service. Stars are a victim of their own success in many ways, but hey they're getting paid handsomely for it so when things go wrong it's up to us to break their balls over it.
