After you folded AK on that hand, did he send you a "thank you" card.

The one where you turned the straight with a spade draw on the board and the possibilities of the lower straight - yeah, I hope that you felt sick about it after you played the hand. If you aren't getting a raise here on the turn, you just don't like money. You MUST RAISE here. Don't "let him think you are weak." If a spade comes, you're beat or he stops. If he has a lower straight, you get about 1/3rd of what you can get if you RRed. You have to pump more money in here now.

In general, your play with AK lacks a fundamental understanding of the game. You are at that point where you know that AK is a drawing hand, but you don't know that this is why you don't want to see flops with them when you are less than 10BB deep. You want to be getting your money in pre and getting FE against midpairs. So, like, that hand where a Q, T, and 8 is on the board and like a ton of hands that may have folded if you pushed are now sitting pretty against your AK, you could have just got it all in preflop and made a correct gamble. There is always going to be sufficient overlay so that even if you are "racing," you made the right move. Once you consider that in these tournaments you see [censored] KJ / KQ / AJ spewing chips off all the time, it would be a sin not to get AK in as much as you possibly can preflop.

Here is what I mean, OK? Last night, an MP raisor with 4500 raised for 700 in MP. I have 2900 at 100/200 with AKo in the SB. And BB has 6000. Now, I suspect what you would have done is raise to 1900. Now, here's the thing - these players suck so badly that if you raise to 1900 they may think they have FE with their JJ or 1010. It's true. They may just flat call. You don't want ANY OF THAT at this point. You have AK, so you must put on the heat - you're perfectly happy to get it in given the overlay, so why sweat that [censored] out. I insta-shoved, of course, and BB took like 90 seconds with his JJ and then folded. MP folded quick. That's a slam dunk increase of my stack by 25% with nice overlay if I have to gamble against another stack. What [censored] more do you want?

There - another lesson about AK. Also, use a converter and don't post 8 hands at a time.

First of all I would like to say that I apologize for my remarks earlier.Didn't want to come off as a jerk(I know that I did!!)What I meant to say is that I take the game seriously and I don't have to be treated like that when it comes to posting. It was my first post here on 2+2 and I did it on a whim not knowing the posting rules.I was informed of my mistake by a fellow member and I thought some others went a little overboard with their responses. A forum is a way to gain very vital information and some of the responses are like the ones you get on other forums!!! No need to say names. So please accept my apologies because i do value the opinions of this great site as I hope to increase my knowledge of the game.

PS.

Barry I was sick about the hand and I would like to send you the HH from that tourney. Got a sick run of cards and I had AK 4 times on that level. I was confused because the guy had such a huge chip stack and I thought his min raise UTG was sneaky.I would like to thank everyone for the responses and Sap sorry for the confusion I would really like to read your post.

lol, don't worry, you have to adjust to the tone of some of these posts, they will seem overly harsh, but really, it's just people being very analytical.

Yeah, that's just a pyschology problem. You can't overthink your big hands in tournaments. Sometimes, if you go on a raising binge and you have like KQ or AJo in MP1 or something, you may want to open limp if the situation dictates so that you don't get 3-bet. However, you have to learn to distinguish - with "sick rushes," you want to keep getting your $$ in preflop as much as possible. This includes, BTW, if you go on a cooler. Anyway, about your HH, I usually don't have the time to read them, but if you want to send it to me, PM me and I'll give you my email.

look i just posted a series of hands from one tourney to get an opinion.Dont read if u dont like the format. It was a few key hands in the tourney and i just wanted to make things easier by putting them together. This is a forum for discussion of mtt strategy not formats. If you dont like the station the change the channel!!!! This is supposed to be a place where a player can get advice not get criticized because of a format.Thats uncalled for!!!
You should stop posting here if that's your attitude. We are freely trying to help you make money, I don't think asking you to post in an easy to read format is too much to ask.

See how much better it looks? When asking for analysis on multiple hands this makes it much easier to comprehend the important parts of the hand to break it down faster. As mentioned before and in the posting guidelines you should not post the results of the hand at first or really at all, just not necessary and will potentially ruin the integrity of the responses. It can take awhile to get used to the average replies on here...
