Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember seeing something on the WSOP website which appears to have been removed?

I thought that it stated the max on each day would be 3000?

Or not. Whatever. I'm not even in the country!

~31k ending day 1c...

Table started with Adam Junglen, Cero Zuccarello, a friend of Cero's, and a bunch of TAGs at the table.. bounced up and down but made it out with about 30k. Junglen is scary imo but enjoyed talking to him on breaks. Starting level 4 we soon got broken, and i sat down at a table with a decent amount of bi sacks, they had 2 people bust [our 1st table had 0 bustos..]. Shortly after sitting Lisandre gets seated directly to my right.. with like half the chips in the tourney [130k or so.. i was sitting with 30ish still]. Chatted him up, complained about him not posting a blind [mandatory of course], took one small pot off of him, lost a big pot to a big stack in a sb/bb battle [see mtt for discussion]... overall, 31k going into day 2.. so far have do quinn at my table with position on me.. fml!

Last year they indefinitely closed registration for day 1D, forced people to register for other days, and then opened day 1D back up later. Were there any problems with that plan? Didn't it work well?

People keep citing July 4th as the problem, but July 4th was also day 1B last year, and day 1D was a Sunday, so you would expect it to be even more crowded, right?

Seems crazy that pros would wait to last minute for registering. I can see satt players, but I have no sympathy for pros who are there everyday but still wait to last minute.

The WSOP Main Event should never sell out.

Day 1c 2009 - 1,106 of 1,696 remaining - 65.21% of field remaining (1 additional level played)

Other numbers:

2008 Day 1a - 1,297
2008 Day 1b - 1,158
2008 Day 1c - 1,928
2008 Day 1d - 2,461

As of right now, if Harrah's holds to this 2700 cap for today's 1d, if the percentage of field remaining at the end of the day were to be the same as it was yesterday, then ~1,760 runners will survive the day, leaving Day 2b with, at the moment, ~2,866 runners and the need to play 10-handed anyway.

Running the numbers, if the cap were increased to the originally advertised 3,000 - and the bustout rate ended up the same as yesterday, there'd be ~1,956 runners left, which would end up putting Day 2b over capacity at ~3,066.

Clearly, some form of drastic change will be needed for next year, be it move the Day 1s off July 4th, or the Todd Terry suggestion of closing registration altogether for the tournament during Day 1a.
They will have 400 tables next year

they could fit a bunch of tables in the stupid pokerpalooza room...

Sorry, But You WON'T Be At the Feature Table

According to one member of the ESPN camera crew, Phil Ivey's table (table #90 in the orange section) was supposed to be the feature table to start the day. Everyone at the table was not only going to get a chance to play at the feature table with one of the greatest players in the game, but they'd also be lined up to receive about $10,000 in sponsorship money from various companies. Ivey didn't want to be seated at the feature table and he got his wish. Everyone at the table was pretty irritated at this decision. This was all according to the camera crew and we'll have to wait and see if any of the players go after Ivey a little bit more throughout the day.

serious? cause i know for a fact that if i were to raise a stink about the feature table, they would ****ing laugh at me. this is ****ing insane. there should be NO PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT for big name players. phil got picked for TV table so his stupid ass should be FORCED TO PLAY IT.

the funny thing is, it HAS to be an edge for him because no one wants to look like a ****** on national TV against phil ivey.

They have three choices on what to do

1. Start 10 handed and go to 9 as soon as players bust (with 300 tables should take 4-5 hours)

2. Leave them 9 handed and replace players as they bust with a full stack, all players should be in by end of 3rd level (with 300 alternates)

3. Shut out players at 2,700

Neither 1 or 2 are ideal but both options are better than 3 IMO

Just 1 of like 127 reasons Matt Savage should run every major tournament!

I agree with whoever said earlier that they'd pay $10 extra in Vig just to have Savage. That'd be like 70k extra they could offer him and his staff than the current option.

This. Obviously Phil is more used to being under the camera than anyone at his table. Major advantage for him that he's turning down for no apparent reason. And it sucks for the other people that 10k actually means something to.

first, i think Ivey owes each and every player from that table 10K..I would be pissed as hell if this happened to me...10K+ loss of exposure ...

but I think TV table is -EV for Ivey... more people will take shots at him on the TV table to show the world how they outplayed the greatest, and you KNOW some donkey with Q10o would get lucky and bust him

I want to bet they change their minds and let more players in!

Players that have been shut out
Patrik Antonius = GOD to most and ESPN also
Mickey Appleman played Main Event 20+ straight years
Melissa Hayden-Will not stop until allowed to play
TJ Cloutier- Worked up his stake a little too late-He will not be denied entry and has played about 20 straight years also
07-06-2009 , 04:28 PM
kind of funny how WSOP did run mostly in an orderly fashion and the ME was going well too, and all the wheels came off on day 1D...what a mess

she will NOT be denied...WSOP people picked the wrong person to deny entry...LOL...just because of her, the registration is once again open (I predict)
