Anybody know if there's a full chip count posted somewhere? One of my good friends is playing today and I only get a text from him every like 4 hours. Was a lot easier to rail him when he was playing online...

I registered about an hour ago and there were just under 2300 entrants for tomorrow.

Dinner break tomorrow will be at the end of level 3, like it was today.

Live poker, ladies and gents :

Cliff notes (if story is accurate of course)

- Jean Robert tanks with top set on a KQxT board getting at least 3/1 odds
- While tanking he spots a buddy and calls him over to let him know what's happening
- Tells dealer not to be rude when reminded it's on him
- Throws spaz when another player asks for clock
- Eventually calls and is up against Ax
- Poker gods fail to provide J on river in shameless dereliction of duty

he Jean-Robert Show

A pretty crazy hand just went down over in the middle of the room involving Jean-Robert Bellande.

There was some preflop action and on the flop of {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {5-Spades}, Bellande fired a bet of 2,000 after his opponent checked to him from the small blind. Bellande was on the button. His opponent raised to 5,000 and then Bellande made the call.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Bellande's opponent checked again. Bellande fired 8,000 and then his opponent raised all in for 18,750 total. With the action back on him, Bellande tanked for a solid few minutes before looking around as if trying to find someone to talk to. He finally found Allie Prescott.

"Allie, Allie. Come here, I'm about to be all in, check this out." he said as Prescott stopped in his tracks and leaned up against the rail next to Bellande's table.

The dealer then turned to Bellande and said, "Sir, it's on you."

"What? I know it's on me. How can you ask that, it's been on me for a few minutes. That's so rude." responded Bellande.

Bellande then uttered, "I have to call, I think I have to call."

Another minute or so passed before the player in seat eight chimed in by asking if Bellande had to call, because of what he said. Another player in seat three then chimed in and asked for the clock. Bellande responded by saying how rude the two players were and even brought up a previous hand in which the playing questioning the call didn't call the clock on another player when he had taken far longer than Bellande has been taking. Finally, the floor was summoned to the table.

It was ruled that from what Bellande said, he had to call. "I know, I'm going to call." said Bellande. "You're right." He then made the call.

Bellande's opponent immediately complimented Bellande on making the call and even stuck his hand out. "What do you mean nice call?" questioned Bellande.

The player tabled {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} for only ace high and Bellande tabled {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}. The dealer then burned and dealt the river, the {10-Clubs}. It wouldn't be a repeat of last year when Bellande was eliminated in stunning fashion. Instead, he made a full house and moved to 70,000 chips.

Thanks for trying to help / for the advice.

Anyone have any more recent updates on how 1-D is selling?

2300 as of an hr ago.

Ah, yeah, I accidentally posted in an older instance of the thread, which hadn't been refreshed in a couple hours.

Should I be happy or unhappy at 2300? On one hand, that's almost as many people as there were total last time, and the event is still 15 hours away.

On the other hand, it seems unlikely that there are 700 people who intend to play who haven't yet registered, right? Maybe not, damn.

400 in the last 7 hours should be encouraging. I doubt there will be double that in the next 15...

David Baker called an all-in holding {A-?} {K-?} to his opponent's pocket jacks. When a third jack appeared on the flop, leaving Baker drawing all but dead, he started praying to the only deity he could right then and there... the Beef Jerky God.

"JERKY!" he screamed as the turn came down a blank.

"JERKY!!!" he cried again as the river brought no help.

Alas, no jerky for his opponent, but he did double up.

Best thing yet

They put in a new bar just for him?

BTW, that's pretty cheap for beer in Vegas.

I can't ***** believe how stupid I am that I thought they would take debit card... I just assumed that since I had the cash in my bank account there would be some way to get it out. ***** sundays.
Visa and MC always charge juice. They can't have you shorting the prize pool.

What they should do is give people the option of paying the extra juice and using their debit card. Too advanced a concept for Harrah's though.

The most annoying part is, I was going to register last week when I had planned to play #51, but I got the flu and missed my trip.

1) Bakes' jerky thing was hilarious.

2) JRB's episode (if accurate) was pathetic. Robl's still at that table as far as I know, so he could be asked.

3) What the heck on the Cantu blow-up? He checkraise-4bets all-in in a blind battle (runs into a monster obv), leaving himself with only 10k (which he busts shortly thereafter). Is that standard for him? He FPS'ed himself out of this tournament.

4) Whatever Jeffrey Lisandro did before this WSOP, I suggest he does it again next year. 135k+ in chips with time left in the day - nobody from 1a had that much at the end. Oh yeah, and the small matter of already having won three bracelets this year. He is unbelievable.

Damn, No offers to stake me 10k for me to drive 14hours and play 1D huh. That sucks.

I just I'll just be following you guys!

GL all!

And if anyone changes their mind and wants to stake me lemme know and I'll start driving!

Btw ... Goodluck Golden Bears. I had a hell of a time trying to get 4000 on a Sunday without paying Vig.

pretty sure its going to sell out. I called like 2 hrs ago, it was at 2383. They said hard cap at 2700. So looks like 400 less then last year best case.
07-06-2009 , 02:04 AM
What happens if I'm feeling sick for day 2? I assume I'm basically SOL?

150/300 with 25 ante: I have 22kish, finnish kid in mp opens to 850, hijack calls, c/o calls, button calls, small blind folds, I'm in the bb in JJ.

I make it 3800, finnish kid in mp thinks and makes it 8k, hijack calls, c/o and button both fold. I shove for 22k, finnish kid thinks for a while and reshoves for like 35k, hijack tanks and folds.
55k pot.
Finnish kid has 99, board rolls out 35795 ggggggggggggggggggggg.

No double final table for me.
