this tournament is like the second coming of the poker boom here, seriously we haven't had ANY must-play online satellites to US-based events since 2006 i think. i can't wait. the field should be big & soft for sure.

Just tried to buy in directly through Stars with regular dollars, they told me that I have to be Platinum Star and only then I can buy in with T$ but will have to wear their gear. Kinda strange, given how they allow direct buyins into preliminaries at all EPT events without preconditions. This is a televised main event and no such perks are available? I guess I'll have to bring a bigger wad of cash, was kinda hoping I could save cash for other purposes.

It'll probably happen. fwiw 10 people at a Venetian table is much more comfy than 10 at the Rio.

Seriously though I really don't get people bitching about 10 handed for any other reason than the table being crowded. Play a little tighter utg than you would 9 handed and play everything else EXACTLY THE SAME basically...

I've played about 5 events there and every one started 10 handed and every one was just fine. Also there's frequently empty seats due to eliminations, people showing up late, etc.

playing 10handed vs 9handed is no big deal.

putting 10 ppl at a table that barely seats 9 is a big deal.

yeah I don't really see the big deal about 10 handed. Sure 9 handed is better, but if it means having the field be 100 people bigger and we go to 9 handed when possible that seems much better than starting 9 handed to me.

edit: obv agree with sketchy if the tables can't accomodate 10 people then 10 handed is awful

i think playing 10 handed is a significantly underrated difference from 9 handed in terms of the avg quality of the winning hand

10 handed sucks if theres 2 fat guys or one really fat guy on your side of the table. I'm already one fat guy so its tough to draw 4 skinny guys/women considering its a poker table. 3 EPs is boring too. if they insta go to 9h from the first bustout at a table then i dont rly care

yeah i could see this getting close to 2k people next year once more people hear/watch the napt on tv or whatever... the 5k buyin makes it easier for people to sattie to obv. than say pca which already gets close to 2k...

I've had professors move exams for me without much issue. My wife had a professor move one so she could come with me to a poker tournament...not saying all will be this accommodating but it's worth asking.
