I couldn't believe the chips the venetian are using.

I mean the red chip is pink...and the black chip is blue.. or is it the other way around?

Having big chips in front / on top is pretty standard ... but Venetian is pretty nazi about it, which is particularly annoying when multiple denominations all look the same!!

I have been bitching about the chips and chips having to be on top for almost the entire time I have played at venetian. It's absurd and it's impossible to get through to them.

Having 10k chips in a tournament where there are 5k chips is ******ed to me anyway but in this situation where the 100's look exactly like the 10k's AND the 500's across the table is just unforgivable.

Luckily I was away from the smoke but yeah that sucks too. Not much they can do, and getting the convention center is usually a decent amount of work for the pokerroom staff who probably didn't expect this many people.

this couldn't be more right about the 10k chips. they provide no extra functional value if there are already 5ks, and the fact that they look exactly like the black 100s and must be on top is frankly perilous! they went into the pot accidentally (mistaken for 100s) maybe half a dozen times at my table on day 1. this is hands down the dumbest thing about venetian tourneys, and the easiest thing to fix. i'm not sure if i should actually mind though since it's usually the fish who plop them in as accidental gifts? it's almost a question of ethics... look venetian, just save face, admit the 10k chips were stupid, and get rid of them. i bet if u took a poll of the players, 90% would recommend to get rid of them.

it's also kind of an issue of brand loyalty. ie - those who are used to the venetian tourneys & 10k chips will be astute, guarded, and more likely to deal with them correctly. but inexperienced players who don't really play venetian are most likely to make mistakes with them.

I played the first half of the day in the salon and it was awesome, super quiet and had a tourney clock and 2 other LCD's really close which is awesome because I lost my glasses. Then got moved to the main area, and it was ridiculous I could'nt hear anything and the dealer missed me saying raise like 3 times.

With 3 min left in the last level of the day, Jeff Shulman announced he was going to stall to avoid putting up the blinds in the next hand. Isac Haxton snap called the floor, and Jeff started acting like a spoiled child. Pretty lol overall.

The bad thing is that being in the middle of the casino only makes the chips worse to deal with. You can't hear amounts at all. So when people randomly throw out chips in big pots, if you don't ask for a bet count, you could **** up at any time.

I'm actually really surprised we didn't see a problem at my table. I know I misidentified several bets from across the table when they would bet something like a 10K and two yellows. Thinking it was 2100 or 2500 instead of 12000.

agree all around with the brown chips. It was really hard to tell how many chips someone had because they looked like the 100s and 500s. Otherwise i had no problems with the tourney even though i busted day 1.

"That's John Wall baby, he's a freshman." Pretty sure that was the only Kentucky player that guy knew. Even when someone else made a play he yelled "John Wall"

Re: chip colors... this was one of the worst chip color contrast problems I've ever seen. Not only does it allow for lots of mistakes, it also makes it easier to pull the scummy angle shot where you pretend to put in the wrong chips. Whichever imalucksac was at my table did it and got paid off.

My bust hand was pretty lol:

400/800 level, I have like 15k. I make it 1800 with KQdd. Folds to bb(semi well known older live pro) who asks for a count of my chips. I count down and have 12.4k behind. He calls. Flop QcTc7d. He leads for 6400(lol). I ship for the remaining 6k and he calls and tables 23cc!!! Obv turn and river are clubs.
