Finished day with 27k. Made a questionable value shove on river with top 2 on super fry board for 18k more after 13k river. Worst part is he took just long enough to call with his set that I thought I was pretty confident I was ahead

I said earlier that I had no complaints, but I guess I did have one.

When I play the Deep Stack series during the WSOP time, I totally put up with the tables being around the slot machines/smoking/loud people/sports book. The tournaments are cheap, and generally they move you inside the poker room fairly early if they can.

Today, we were out there all day, and we were even further away from the poker room. My table had no clock within visible distance, was quite smokey at times, and definitely had to deal with random drunk people yelling things from the bar next to the sportsbook. (Did you guys see John Wall?)

I'm not that big of a nit about these things, but am I totally wrong to think the Venetian doesn't have a room somewhere that could handle 80 tables? For a 5K, with almost a million to first, I'd think they could scrounge up some nicer digs. Maybe they don't have the room, or it becomes too expensive for Stars then, I dunno.

the players at my table forgot the rule about tapping the fish tank because they kept saying I was terrible and must have been an european online qualifier. lol my buddy was at the table and got a good laugh when I busted out at everyone laughing at my min raises preflop.

laid down KK preflop and must have a big tell, because I bet some rivers and got called by hands would seem impossible to call. was a fun time and looking forward to the LAPC Main event

I was just downstairs, and they have all the chip bags dumped on one table with a buncha floor guys standing around looking at them. I'd guess they aren't gonna be done with table draws soon.

Racing off the 25's seemed badly timed too. Why wouldn't we race them off when we were bagging up, and not waste 10 minutes?

At some point they want to move the DSE's into the Sands convention center, a la the WSOP. I don't know what the critical mass is to reach the tipping point, but I think it would have been a lock if they had sold out (had alternates) in this one. The should probably do it for sure if there's another NAPT next year.

after all these years of running live tourneys, it is amazing that so many major operators still miss some of the simple things: the timing of chip race-off, the color of damn chips!!!! how difficult is it to get 8-10 chip demoninations that have distinguishing colors?

Postives:

1. Turnout was amazing.
2. Hotel rooms are phenomenal, best I've ever been in for a standard room.
3. It's in Vegas -- great restaurants, attractions, easy to go to, etc.

Negatives:

1. Tournament location. Echo everything ZBTHorton said. We shouldn't have to contend with smoke while playing, Venetian is the only place I've played in the past 2 years where that was an issue. Also the noise from the damn machines is really loud and disconcerting.

2. Chips. The colors are awful. Three times in the first two hours at my table someone (each time a different person) accidentally threw out a 10K chip! That should never happen.

And the Venetian's ridiculous policy, which it seems to be their goal in life to enforce, that your biggest chips have to be on top of your stack or separate just contributes to the confusion -- if those chips are on the bottom of your stack, you'll never throw them out accidentally. And guess what? The colors are all so similar that no matter where you keep your big chips no one else at the table can see them and if they want to know how much you have behind they're going to ask anyway. So it's a pointless rule that just creates the potential for huge mistakes in putting chips in the pot.

3. Structure. An event of this magnitude should have at least 75 minute levels to start. 8 hours in, a starting stack is 30 BBs. The last two live events I played were events with smaller buy-ins than this one, the Borgata $3500 main and a Foxwoods $1500 megastack. 8 hours in at Borgata, you'd be a bit less than midway through a level where a starting stack is 80 BBs. 8 hours in at Foxwoods, a starting stack would be 40 BBs.

Obviously the structure is an NAPT-wide thing and I know some people disagree with me on in it. If they can get the tournament location sorted out, I think Venetian would be such a great venue that they should make it the centerpiece of the NAPT (as the Bellagio is for the WPT) and hold multiple events here per year.
