For Stars, in no particular reason, it is because:
1) Players have a right to privacy
2) Players don't like it
3) It gives the people who use it an unfair advantage
4) 'Cause they don't allow people to opt out
5) 'Cause they publish profitiability/ROI information by default

If they fixed (4) and (5) then SharkScope would be permitted at PokerStars since (1) (2) and (3) would be substantially solved.

man i might have to get into bbv propbetting given the amount of action boku is getting on some lolz easy bet at 3:1. I don't think people realise how easily he'll make it since he can play 9-45mans too (10k in 15days starting w/ $100 if ppl dont know the bet)

ya suzzer thats a good point. i have to not use it in vids anyways, so no choice anyways.

josem - manticore just hates me and i guarantee he uses sharkscope regularly. its just beyond ****ed up trying to get someone banned who has like 50k online. i asked cardrunners to ban him, but they said he technically did nothing wrong as douchey as he is...

ftp said nothing to me, and hasnt banned me, and im sure they wont. they just asked to blur out sharkscope from the vids. but they implied that they dont enforce the sharkscope thing at all. they didnt even contact me directly. they contacted CR only.

Paying the $250 for the biopsy now is a drop in the ocean compared to what it could to cost later if you put it off. Sure, if it needs further attention now, thats going to seem like a lot of money, but even that is nothing compared to the future cost of putting it off. And then think about the other stuff I said before.

Its always hardest to do it the first time. It gets a bit easier each time afterwards, but it was never easy for me to do. Just keep in mind you are just firing them, you arent killing them. They'll eventually get another job.

Also keep in mind the reason you have to fire them. Do not stray from that point when telling them why it has to be done. You'll open yourself up for potential problems later if you say too much.

So, the current "blocking feature" is not sufficient? iirc only paying members can see some information (ROI and # games?). hmm, whatever, not playing on stars, but just wanted to know the reasons.

It's no fun for either of you. Just be sure to do it in private, preferably near the end of a mid-week workday. Please don't let people go on a Friday. It's the worst time ever to fire/be fired.

Be sure to explain why you have been asked to perform this task... Helps take some of the heat off anyway. Also, offer at least one suggestion as to where he/she might look for another position right away.

Sucks to be the boss sometimes, but that's the price for success. GL Man.

Reassure the guy that you'll be parting on good terms so he can list you as a reference on a resume, that's something that's pretty comforting when you're about to look for a new job

Maybe I'm just used to the references I put down never getting called, but I still keep in touch with a lot of my former employers and no one's ever told me that they were called to help me find my new job. But it was always nice hearing that I could use them as a reference.

Yeah it is great for the former employee. Thats not my point. You probably left on good terms with your former employers.

Beer has to fire the guy for a reason. If he gets in a conversation with a potential employer about the guy in the future, they'll ask why he fired the guy. Depending how that conversation goes, Beer could find himself in a future lawsuit.

I would normally respond to a reference call with, "I cant comment on that" unless I have absolutely nothing negative to say about that individual. I would not disclose the reason the person is no longer with my company. I would not lie. I just wouldn't say a whole lot.

Now if this is a situation where its a numbers thing and he has to let a good employee go, then giving a good reference is a completely different story.

Re: *** Official STTf February kakkendaaliluukku Thread - No lame BBV ***

so speaking of jobs:

im currently working as a night manager at a restaurant/bar. i get paid a flat 10/hr and in cash, so i can duck taxes (shh). i work 5 nights a week, and the only complaint about the job is the sleep schedule. generally, im just not awake during the days anymore, and it sort of cuts into my social life, but not in a huge depressing way, ie the people i wanna see i still see. the place is fun, and i can get a lot of writing done while i work because i dont really have much to do, per se. and since i work so much, i get hefty pay checks, which is important for me because my savings is pretty scarce.

so, i woke up today, about an hour ago, to a voicemail from a woman who works for the food network saying she wants to bring me on as a PA for some show. i just talked to her and it looks like they have pretty steady work for the next month or so. it would pay 125 a day flat, and theres no telling what any given day would be like (could be 8 hours but in CT or 13 hours in NYC). but it wouldnt be every day, so id have real days and days off. id probably get less total sleep, and have less time to write. but id also have less days of work per week, so more time to relax/go out. i also have no idea where this woman got my contact info. i asked her and she said it was from someone i didnt know, i said i didnt know who they were and she said that whoever it was spoke highly of me so i shouldnt worry about it.

i know i cant work both jobs, and time is always a factor. i told the PA woman that if i did work for her, id give my restaurant 2 weeks notice, which i would, but the sooner i can let anyone know anything the better.

edit: my "career" is film/tv, not production per se. a PA job is typically not creatively fufilling at all, and is probably what you think of when you think of a gopher job. depending on the crew it can be more or less fun. one time i had to sit in a warehouse for 13 hours a day building IKEA furniture, one time i made some creative contributions, so its really random that way, but a PA is the bottom of the totem pole.

so what do you think?

cliff notes:

currently have restaurant job where i get paid well, but work hours that dont let me see the sun.

just got offered a freelance job with steady work for a month, but will be less money overall and less time to write

gotta decide soon

Good point. Also good to keep in mind. I've never had to fire someone who I would have given a reference to. I did fire a dishwasher for being drunk, locking himself in a closet with the only key and going to sleep. But that was kind of an obvious firing.

How many 16'er's are pulling in 10k months? I doubt not very many. I realize those that can probably move up but starting at $100 he can get ****ed if he runs bad at the beginning or anytime he moves up a level. I'm sure the 45 mans at the low levels are lol bad but there's no way going from 100->10k is lol easy in 15 days.

movieman depending on the people you work with, restaurant jobs usually result in a better social life.

As far as your decision, I'd go for the PA job since it's sort of in the field you want to be a part of. The real problem I see is if this job is only going to last for a month, what would you do after the month is over? Would you go back to the old gig or try to find a new job? You could just try putting in a leave of absence for a month or so or an extended vacation.
