While trying to start my engine, if I pressed down on the gas my engine would run, but as soon as I let off the gas it would die again. I waited a few minutes, tried restarting again, yet this time I just revved the engine for a couple minutes and finally cut the power while I was revving. I immediately restarted and my engine came to life instantly, and since then my ignition is firing faster than it normally does, a CPU problem that was causing my overhead display to malfunction is now fixed, and my car just feels like it's running better. WTF?!

I was coming home from class today and when I pulled down my street I saw a brown 1980's Malibu stopped on the side of the street, engine running, windows down, occupied by four black males. It's the middle of the day which is pretty strange, but it was fairly obvious what was up. I slowly drove past the vehicle with no intention of pulling into my own driveway, and as soon as I passed the chevy came to life and began following me. I got out my cell and called the closest police station and asked them to send a patrol car over. I went to the end of my street, passing my house, hooked a right a drove around a few different streets for a few minutes. This ****ing chevy followed me the entire time. Tired of waiting for a cop, I finally decided to just leave my neighborhood and come back later. As I get to the end of a street to exit onto the main road, a minivan pulls onto said street, and the chevy makes a u-turn. ****. I turn around too, call the closest police station AGAIN, and tell them some lady is about to get attacked/robbed. The lady in the minivan drives down the street and pulls into her driveway with the chevy halfway down this street slowly approaching. I get up on the chevy's ass and flash my lights. The car pulls off to the side into the swell of this lady's yard, apparently waiting for the lady to exit. ****. I'm now pulled over into the swell as well and the minivan driver notices these 2 cars who just made U-turns and followed her to her driveway, so she smartens up and doesn't get out of her car. Suddenly 2 unmarked patrol cars come flying around the other end of the street and the chevy pulls out of the swell, pulls another U-ey and drives down the road. Both cops pull over the chevy, the lady stays in her minivan, and I drive home.'

When I get home I realize that when I finally got my car running, I immediately left and didn't notice I had left the front and back doors wide open
Props on doing the right thing. I've only been to Florida a couple of times in various parts, and my impression was that this sorta thing isn't that uncommon.

Re: *** Official STTf February kakkendaaliluukku Thread - No lame BBV ***

Last night i was flicking thru the sports channels and there was some college basketball on and it got me thinking.

The whole idea of college sports being so popular is completely lost on me, how did this become so in the US? How do you pick which college you follow? Surely the pro sports are better to watch and a better standard.

Basically as a Brit it is all a bit alien to me and i would rather ask it here than get flamed in Sporting events.

There's room to watch college and pro. There's nothing quite like the 64-team NCAA basketball tourney, or the intensity of college football. You generally root for teams near you or where you went to school obv.

Labor market is controlled, salaries can only equal tuition + a small stipend, athletes are hungrier, less of the ego/agent-controlled competitors that the average person identifies with less (of course the coaches are free to use whatever leverage possible to get paid millions of dollars, but that strikes people better than teenagers getting millions). Also, college sports better reinforce the societal power structures that a lot of people identify with.

You pick your team based upon where you went to school, what region you grew up in (regions/states without a pro football team in particular have tons of rabid fans from said state/region - Alabama, Oklahoma, etc.), what team you grew up rooting for, etc.

Blah, blah, the atmosphere tends to be more vibrant at many big college games, the corporate/pro game tends to get more emotionally sterile (with a number of exceptions). More history/tradition on average too in college sports, it's not just about the money as often as pro sports.

Fwiw, I'd much rather watch an ACC/BIG TEN/etc... rivalry college basketball game than any NBA game.

fyp.

Seriously. I can't ****ing STAND to watch these 41-37 point basketball games where one team shoots like 1/16 from the field and the other team shoots like 25 FT's.

The whole college game doesn't lean towards fluid basketball, which IMO, is the way it's meant to be played.

Interesting stuff, ty.

I can relate to quite a bit of that, as soccer in the UK has become very similar to the big US pro sports. The money is so massive, that it is hard to relate to the people who play it anymore.

Lake Balaton in Hungary (2 hour train trip from Budapest). Topless/Nude beaches, amazingly beautiful women and lots of partying. Just get a train ticket from Budapest to Siófok.
