How much would it cost to an XM radio installed at like a Best Buy? I have a 12 hour drive this weekend and want to get a radio to make it more bearable, especially since I'm driving through the middle of nowhere.

I don't have a tape deck, auxilliary port, OR external antenna on the car so I don't know what my other options are other than to get it installed, but I don't want to drop a ton of money on it. Anyone have any experience with this kinda thing?

Get one of those car to regular outlet adapters so you can plug in an ihome or even your laptop. It looks kinda ghetto, but power adapter + laptop + verizon aircard = the nuts for long drives if you aren't the only one in the car.

with the talks of xm sirius about goin under, not sure i would get one, cuz who knows how u can have it for.....

I've been to both. Cambodia last year and Viet Nam 8 years ago. Both were amazing, you will love it. Those shots are probably overkill unless you're planning on a lot of jungle trekking or intimate interactions with villagers and livestock. Just don't drink the water and don't eat raw vegetables or raw peeled fruit (anything uncooked that could be touched by ppl) - and you'll be fine. But those are shots you should probably have anyway, so no biggie. I'd avoid the malaria medicine if I was you. That **** ****s you up before during and after. Not worth it imo.

Tour of the Me Kong Delta and a minor Viet Cong camp/tunnel system near there was probably my favorite part of Nam. Da Lat is cool too. Nha Trang was hot as hell - but nice beach. Be sure to hit up Mama Hanh's party boat if it's still going. In Saigon please go to the backpacker ghetto and tell me if hotel 211 and Bar Guns & Roses next door are still kicking. Also if you meet come crazy hot vietnamese chick in a bar, don't come back for her a month later to see if you can make a life together. You can't she's crazy. Trust me. They're all crazy. All the ones you meet in bars anyway.

yea, but people are cuttin down on many things, and one of the things that they are cuttin down on stuff that arent needed.......ie. satellite radio.... its supposed to happen soon....

Suzzer - you tilt me, as my life seems so dry compared to your's...and I went on an 8 month deployment and visited Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, Dubai and Hawaii. Have you been to Egypt?

I just can't imagine it going away with how many car manufacturers are making satellite radio standard, and how popular it seems to be (and relatively inexpensive). I can definitely foresee the bankruptcy, but you have to think after that they'll restructure talent contracts, etc. and be able to make a go of it.

Eh never got into podcasts. I just like to listen to things like ESPN radio or Handel on the Law (he's on XM). I don't do music for most of long drives because I need something to keep my mind active.

I've got a built-in adapter for XM Radio in my car but don't subscribe to the service. What's the minimum # of months I could sign up for?

Would be awesome for trips + friends to play around with.
