Be aware that windows 10 is actually a poor choice for the 2011 Macbook pro because Apple is not updating drivers or releasing updates for it. You are much better off with Windows 7.
I was mistaken, I actually have Windows 8.1 running on Bootcamp on my MBP.
So I purchased this monitor for my session yesterday...
BenQ GW2765HT 27in IPS WQHD Monitor 2560X1440
Using Bootcamp, the monitor would only max out at 1920 x 1080 when I go to the screen resolution settings in the control panel.
So then I opened the AMD Catalyst Control Center for my Graphics card, and under the "My Digital Flat-Panel" tab it shows the properties of the monitor at a Maximum reported resolution of 1920x1080.
I then clicked on the "Scaling Options (Digital Flat-Panel) " option and all it does is allow me to use scale values and underscan or overscan, which does nothing to fix the resolution problem.
I went to download the latest AMD driver for my Gfx card on their website but the file is corrupt.
What gives here? My friend bought the exact same monitor as me and it works perfectly at 2560 x 1440 when he connects via HDMI thru his Asus laptop which has a ****ty graphics card. He is on Windows 10 for what it's worth, and he is able to go into a graphics options menu which allows him to select any resolution, in this case 2560 x 1440.
I have also tried using 2 different HDMI cables, both fairly new. There are no refunds on this monitor so this is very frustrating for me.
Would really appreciate any help you can give me man, I don't know why the heck it's not working at the proper resolution.
