Is it reasonable for an American 200nl & 400nl 6max (winner before rakeback) winner to try to get a backing deal for WSOP events this summer? Said player has a SNG background (like 2007, 2008 before finding cash games) & has won some online tourneys but has played less than 30 MTTs a year.

Said player has never traveled to play live MTTs before - heck, hasn't even played a live MTT with a buyin higher than $100.

I've always heard WSOP fields are soft but is it THAT soft that backers would be willing to stake this type of player?

Does being a 6max/short handed specialist add bonus points for a possible investment? I would guess so since these type of guys would be more likely to win a final table if they made it deep.

This player will almost certainly have the ability to learn how to crush these games. If I were going to back him I'd set him up for as many $200-500s as part of the package before now and vegas because it'd be good if he felt comfortable and was aware of the adjustments between online and live

Did anyone ever come up with a definitive strategy for those 3xturbo rebuy satellites? I know stalling a lot before the add-on and trying to have the button thereafter is a big factor, but what about early stategy? Ever taking more than a single rebuy? Playing mostly by cEV?

I will likely just play 2/5 on my own dime if I play NL but I might just play the deep 1/2 PLO the whole time I'm there since I'm starting to really enjoy live PLO at a local card room. Anyways, I figured there's more value in trying to get your name out there for live MTTs for future potential chances of playing bigger events down the road.

Think it would be hard in general to get full, live-only backing that's short term as well. Do what everyone else does and PM Max Katz if he is still around. If you can't get backing, just make a package of stuff you want to play (like others said, a lot of 300-500 for best value and some others), and sell pieces. You'd prolly sell out quickly.

Or...go out there and plan to play the 300-500s and shot take the 1500 once in awhile or something and make back/grind out your buy ins for tourneys at 2/5. If you're successful at these limits in cash already you could almost break even the whole summer if you brick every tourney but make up your buy ins in cash games. Won't profit if you brick every tourney, but u have 100% for yourself and many shots at crushing a venetian for the profits.

Kind of depends on what type of person you are/which route you want to take.

Last I remember, some Steps SNGs classed as FPP buyins and some as cash buyins, and SScope could only track the "cash" ones
