Hi everyone. I played a local $160 MTT. Please look at this hand and let me know what you think. Thanks for the feedback.

Blinds 1200-600-1200
Hero (stack 20bb) UTG KQo open 3600
Mp2 stack 55bb (very loose plays about 50% of hands recently shows bluff with 96o calls large ep action with ace rag 10 8 off etc) flats
BB stack 15 bb flats

Flop j 10 6 rainbow.

Bb checks

As I was under 20 bb and knowing full well that mps range could have hit mid or low pair I jammed this. I thought the fold equity and my outs was worth the risk.

Mp tanks for 3 mins and calls with 76 off.

Thanks again for any input.

1. PF raise is too big. 2bb is fine
2. 1.7x pot jam kind of turns your hand face up. What would you have bet with AA or JJ? This bet screams AK, AQ, KQ
3. In a vacuum fold equity isn’t the same as your fold equity against this villain in this spot for your tournament life.

So the pot should have been 7.5bb instead of 10.5bb, then checking the flop would have given you a lot more options and a lot more info with room to maneuver. In any event seems like a better spot to check raise all in rather than open jam.

Thanks Brian. That makes a lot of sense. I will definitely work on my sizing and I do need to check raise more. Live and learn!

Curious, If you were the villain, would you have called with bb behind with 76o there?

I wouldn’t have flatted 76 so wouldn’t be in this situation with that exact hand. With players yet to act I probably would be with TT down to 22 though thinking I had the right implied odds to call, and with 77-99 which is basically 76 I’m thinking long and hard about calling you flop jam.

That villain could also easily have flatted pre with very strong hands hoping to induce a squeeze, in which case you’re totally ****ed on the flop.

Is 3x a sizing tell? Would you have bet smaller with AA, KK pre?

Seems like the jam successfully targets AQ and exactly AQ among hands that just flat pre.

And you’re multi-way.

All good points.

I would not have bet different with kk or qq. With aa I may have gone smaller possible even limp . AK AQ AJ A10 JJ 10s 9s 8s all would be the same. I may change this after your input. Usually I bet 2.5 here but villain was not respecting ANY raises. (I will be working on my pot control but this would be based on how I have played in the past)

I felt that bb missed by body language tells from his prior hands. Villain may have picked up on this as well.

With the spot I put myself in on the flop I felt a check raise would have committed the villain regardless, or he may have jammed to a check by me based off his prior play.

Trying not to defend my play but let you know my train of thought.
