MTT vs SNGs MTT vs SNGs

Just sound boarding what’s going around my head.

Under the assumption MTT and SNG’s have a similar ROI (this could be my first mistake), Why is it worth sinking the time into MTT’s?

E.g. assuming bother circa 20% ROI.
I’d rather take 20% on $5, 4 times an hour in SNG.

Compared to hours of multi-tabling MTTs?

Feels lower variance in the SNG grind.

Or do min-cashs in MTTs lower variance?

Or are SNG’s much tougher than MTT’s? Even at $2 or $5 BI.

I’m hoping the answer is MTT are much much softer?

Thoughts?

Seems like you would be more highly impacted by presence of bots/team play when playing SNG vs MTT.

I prefer SNG mainly due to time constraints.

MTTs have a higher ROI. SNGs are more consistent due to the smaller fields.

If you can play honest SNGs, they are a great way to build a bankroll. Lower variance than MTT, and you get a lot of short handed practice for future MTT FTs.

As I understand it, a lot of the players who became big stars got their starts in SNGs.

It was also my favorite format back in the Party Poker days.

You are greatly overestimating the ROI of SNGS. Good SNG ROI's are in the 3-6% range. A solid MTT grinder can win at 25% ROI.
