Scenario: Hero is heads up on the river. Villain bets, Hero calls. Villain mucks right away.

Is Hero required to show his cards, or can Hero muck right after?

Wait until the pot is shipped to you and then muck. You have the only live hand after villain mucks, so the hand is over.

some places you have to show your hand, most you don't

yeah, take a habbit of waiting for the pot to be in front of you before mucking

If you have a prawn, always show

I mean, technically villain should show if anyone. But realistically anyone would be silly to kick a stink about that given they've shipped the pot.

I'm pretty sure most places wouldn't require hero to show. I see no reason why they would. But I'd definitely keep them in front of you until you see the chips moving your way.

The official rule at most of the strip casinos now is, if anyone but the villain who mucked asked to see your hand you have to show.

You sure about this? When I was there I think only people who had cards at showdown could request a hand to be shown, unless there was a good case to be made for potential collusion.

I always thought that any hand that goes to showdown, the winning player has to show his hand even if villain mucks. I might be biased by only having played in casinos where this was regularly enforced, but ive def seen this exact scenario happen multiple times before and hero being forced to show. It might be an anti-collusion measure or something, so that you cant dump chips to ur friend when he calls u on the river with the nut low and gets to muck and ship it since u mucked first.

For the wsop circuits this year I know this is true. Even if hero mucks you must show hand to win. I guess for collusion

They also allow you to use headphones before the money bubble then make you take them off for the rest of the tourney once it's ITM. Doubt that rule is used in many other places

That was the only relevant text I could find in the TDA Rulebook Handout. I didn't bother reading through the long version because I figured it was common enough, but the long version PDF can be found here: http://www.pokertda.com/wp-content/u...F_longform.pdf
