I played limit hold'em successfully for years, then switched to sngs and I'm doing fine. I'm not losing any money anyway. I'm thinking of switching to nl cash games. I find that with family pressures, on-call for work, etc, I really need to be able to stop playing at the drop of a hat, and I have a hard time doing that in a sng. Has anyone made this transition? Which of cash games or sngs is easier to make money at low stakes?

Any feedback would be great.

This question probably belongs in the STT to Cash thread.

I'd say it's easier to quickly become a winning player at $5 SNGs (or the equivalent) than say.. NL25 cash. AFAIK SNGs in general have a steeper learning curve than NLHE ring games. By this I mean, that you can learn to beat SNGs faster but you can never really crush SNGs quite like you could a cash game.

Post your question in the micro NL (uNL) forum.

The stickies will be a very good place to start.

I would have to strongly disagree.

its possible to have a huge edge over opponments in cash, in sng, the gap isnt so huge because there isnt much deep stack play involved.period

He has put up $60k months more than once, and I don't think any of the regulars around here would disagree he could do it on a monthly basis if he put in the volume consistently.

how does that disprove any part of this statement?

Because in this day in age I would consider 50-70k a month playing SNGs crushing. I am not sure what the average win rate is in mid-stakes these days, but I don't see many graphs that eclipse spacegravy's results.

Its possible crush cash games for way more money

a handful players having godlike results in SnGs don't change the nature of the game, which is limiting the number of options and possible mistakes by limiting the number of blind in your stack.

I make similar money to spacegravy with less volume, and Spacegravy is wayyy better at SNGs than I am at cash games

I never said it did. He said it wasn't possible to crush SNGs like cash games, I am saying it is.

NL cash harder than SNG imo. much more read and post flop skill depedant due to deep stacks. I am in the same boat as OP, i can't devote much time to SNG's due to my schedule, so am trying to switch to NL cash games, but the transition has been tough, thank fully i am keeping afloat with RB + SNG winnings. GL OP!

I regret bumping already

A top player putting in massive volume to earn 70k in a month is amazingbut:

If he had the same skilladvantage in cashgames there is no question he would have made so much more than that if the stakes hed play were comparable.

Its not possible to seize your skilldifference to the same extent in STT as in Cash.
ever
