This is a daily tournament, started with 7 tables (83 players), and have just been moved to the final 3 tables.

Hero's stack is $10.5k - which is just below average.
Blinds are $1k/$2k

Hero raises to $4k with Kc Ks, MP calls allin for $1k, CO & button call $4k, SB calls & BB calls.

Flop: Qc Jd 2c
Checks to Hero, who shoves his remaining $6.5k.

Open shove pre. Not sure why you min open raised off a 5.25 bb stack.

Look where it got you. A 6-way pot for the main and a 5-way pot for the side. Given you posted this hand, I take it you lost?

Just open shove preflop. Don't get fancy with a 5.25 bb stack.

I am guessing your rationale was to increase your shot at doubling, knowing that BB will fold some hands if you open shove for 5x but call for 2x. It's an OK idea from SB and maybe BTN, but in MP you will have 5 players behind with at least a 10% chance of waking up with something they'll call with. At least 1/2 the time you shove, you are getting called.

In general, I wouldn't have a min opening strat below 9bb. A lot of players will advocate for not having a min-open strat below 12bb.

Up to 6bb, I'm just simplifying and shoving. At 7-10bb, you can introduce some limping if you'd like but the EV won't be that dissimilar from open shoving and getting called.

On the flop, look at everyone in the hand and say, "It was a pleasure serving with you all." Then push your 3.25bb in there.

If you are just below average stack at 5.25 BB you are in the Bingo phase of the tournament. You shove every time here when you hit Bingo and KK is Bingo.

This is a tough spot. I’m fine with min open but also ripping looks weaker and allows us to see all 5 against maybe less hands.

As played I’m fine with it- I’m sticking it in on flop or betting to leave maybe 1k behind and just calling off.

Sometimes I might open to 5k here instead of the 4k just to get more chips in pre I guess but it doesn’t really matter I guess. I’m prolly more a fan of ripping at a call happy table that is not going to 3! Pre which is most live tables. I think fillings 5bb isn’t much different than say min opening. I think I would min open more at like 8+ bb to 20bb to induce. On 5 bb, I don’t think we really induce and our hand looks super strong min opening on that stack sizing. I prefer rip as we might get called by 77 or 88 from late position.

Going to a flop against 3-4 villians here is annoying.

Appreciate the feedback. I play cash most of the time and seldom have less than 100 bb, so I need to break some habits.

The hands that I recall were: A6s, QJo, and T9s. The QJ won. The QJo guy's call preflop was horrible, but I guess he thought his position made it OK. Gotta love those f-ing morons; please come to the cash game.

I think I like the idea of always shoving with 10bb, or less.
