Hello everyone!

Sorry for not being able to convert the hand history as the site I am using does not allow HUDs.

Online 2€ buy in best stack forward tournament with multiple day 1s, level 13/18, blinds 800/1600 with 160 ante, 8 handed.

Villain1 joined the table 6 hands ago and was all in pf 4 times, seems like maniac. Villain2 solid. I am a novice but seem to do ok at the micro stakes.

SB villain2 (152 878) 78,7 bb
LJ Hero (78 395 ) 49 bb
HJ Villain1 (71 284) 44,5 bb

Dealt to Hero JsJd

Hero raises to 2.2bb, Villain1 raises to 4.4bb, SB calls 3,9 bb, BB folds, Hero calls 2,2bb

flop (15bb) 2c5hQd
SB x, Hero x, Villain1bet 40,5 bb and is all in, SB fold, Hero calls 40,5bb

Should we go all in pf here? I thought Villain1 raising so small was a red flag and with SB still to act I decided just to call. On the flop I pretty much snap called, my reasoning being they should not bet AA/KK/set so large here.

What do you guys think?

Sorry for my english and/or other mistakes, first time posting!

Oops, forgot to add:

"was all in pf 4 times"

with hands like 93s

"they should not bet AA/KK/set so large here"

A s trong Q should neither?

LJ vs HJ, and OOP, I would definitely put in another pf raise. But I don't think I shove at 44 bbs eff. 10-12 bbs seems right. Against this villian as described, I snap a shove both pf and post on that flop.

If villain is getting all in pre with hands like 93s then I'm 4-betting and getting it in pre here.

I guess I was overthinking on this one.

Many thanks for the comments, really appreciate it!

I have no problem jamming pre-flop. My typical re-raise sizing OOP with a caller would be 22 bb's. Which is half of effective stack so its a jam. The other benefit of jamming is that SB is always folding here so its HU (at worst) which is much better for JJ.

I don't think the min raise pre-flop means much aside from wanting to buy the button. Often it means a weakish hand that wants to minimize loss. If Villain had QQ+ after having raised 4 straight times why would it be a bad thing to raise 3x?

As played I probably fold to the flop jam. It looks like AQ/KQ/55/22 a lot of the time. It could be any QXs really. Given there is no flush draw and no likely straight draw I just think Villain isn't bluff jamming that much of the time. Given we kept the pot small, I would wait until we have a clearly better hand than Villain moving forward.

Both very good points. I seem to struggle with these 40-50bb stack depths, perhaps because I have played more cash than tournaments.

If you've played cash, then translate to cash terms. If you were in a cash game with $1/$4 blinds, you had $100, and you were dealt JJ against one aggressive player and one player with a capped range, would you really not put in a 4-bet? I think people play these spots too tight in tournaments.

I'm not sure whether it's theoretically correct to 4-bet to something like 15 BBs or jam, but you have to do something. And I prefer jamming since you will be sick if you 4-bet to 15 BBs, get called, and see overcards come on the flop.

Postflop, I second Rick's analysis. You're not getting the odds you need to call. Sure, it could be something like A4, but maniacs hit flops too.
