First, I'm skeptical of the claim that the metabolites stored in fat cells have anything to do with
causing tolerance (obviously they correlate with the fact that you've eaten a lot of bananas recently, which correlates with increased tolerance). So, while "burning fat" via exercise is a good idea because exercise is good for you generally and should make you feel better, I doubt it's a some silver bullet that will make your tolerance go down noticeably faster.
Also, sweet sample size Devo. My last two live tournaments would "prove" the opposite contention.
