He showed 88 and flopped the set and I was booted, anyway, this was a final table with 8 left, 700$ for 8th, which i took home, and about 6,400$ for first, which i did not take home. My question is, based on a payout structure right there, and a lot of stacks being close to me, do I just call or 3 bet small there? Or should i just shove it every time?

Easy shove here. If anything, ICM suggests you should lean more towards shoving.

Sucks that you lost a flip.

Shove it everytime, there's nobody here who's insanely short so it's really not that big a deal.

I think it depends a lot on the payouts here.

There are 4 players who are shorter than you here. If the difference from 8th to 6th is another $700, then this is a bad spot to jam it. You should be looking to play post-flop in this spot instead of jamming. If it's just a couple hundred bucks, then I think the risk to become a bigger stack becomes justified, but an argument could still be made to play post-flop here given your stack size.

So you're going to blind out and hope that four guys bust before you do?

There is a difference between blinding out and opting to play a pot against a big stack playing a wide range cautiously, but ultimately it depends on the payouts here. If jumps are small, then no, i'm not slowing down. If the jumps are meaningful though, then yes, slow it down and pick spots where you can take the initiative.

The jumps were fairly standard, i.e. fairly meaningful, my dollar value of my chip stack at the time was 2100, and after the loss I took home 700. If I win the all in pot my value jumps up to 3800, so i think straight based on the math its a correct shove given the 50% equity I almost always have and probably even more so of a shove if you start to calculate the fold equity and the times you come up against AQ or maybe even AJs if hes calling with 8s.

The opener is opening wide from close to a steal position, he's playing close to 1/2 his hands and about 1/3 for a raise. He's also got a bully stack. Just the right stack size to get it in.

I would utilize the Phil Hellmuth shove, the one where you're in such a rush to snap-shove that you knock your drink all over the table and random chips from your stack go flying in all directions in a half a nano-second.
