I am wondering if there is an easy way or a good program out there for calculating chip ev and hand percentages in situations where i raise (when i have 15bbs or more) and someone ,either ahead of me or someone who limped before me, shoves all in..
For example: i have 30bbs, i raise 4xbb the SB and BB fold someone who previously limped shoves over me for 20xbb.. I want to be able to enter ranges and figure out which hands i should be calling with, for + chip ev..
Seem like this can be done with sng wiz if you really mess around with positions and chips stacks to the point where it looks nothing like the real hand, but this is time consuming..
I am just wondering if there is a good program out there that is made for doing easy calculations for these situations and what that program is.
Check out PokerStove regardless. Pretty much invaluable if you haven't been using it.
If you need to use spreadsheets for whatever reason, you can just use Google Docs. Not quite as powerful as Excel but should get the job done for this sort of stuff.
EV=Total pot after call*equity-Amount to call (for short EV=P*E-C)
Set EV=0 for breakeven equity
0=P*E-C
E=C/P (any hand with equity higher than this will be +cEV to call)
So, use that equation to get breakeven equity needed, pick a range for them, use stove to figure out what your range should be.
