blinds are 500 sb ante 500/1000

UTG+2 raise to 2700 seems like a pro, says he plays a lot of online tournaments something or other.
Loose middle aged rec calls LP

Hero in SB with AK makes it 8500 with a starting stack around 45,000 I guess i should just ship it here usually?

anyways, pro folds, Loose player calls

flop J85r

Hero bets 7000 into 23700
V calls
turn is some blank
check check
river pairs board not the jack
check check

V shows down A5s for pair of 5's to scoop

how aggressively should I barrel this spot vs. seemingly loose sticky opponent?

The turn card and suits of all cards listed in the post have a significant impact on whether to barrel the river or not. What story are you telling if you do? a Jx hand isn't checking the turn very often so with another J OTR your bluff may get looked up.

I realize turn and river cards are important for whether to barrel.

I know for a fact turn was not Q+, and I’m pretty sure it didn’t pair board or complete any straights, did however put two spades on the board. I think it was a 2,3,4,6 of spades. River I’m pretty sure was another 8, I know it wasn’t a J or 5. And did not complete flush.

Assuming 2 of spade turn and 8 river, what are your thoughts on double/triple barreling if called on turn? Thanks, I just gave up on this run out protecting my chips and feeling like this guy would call turn, but I feel like my 3! Range is too strong vs. his weak range to give up so easily. I was tilted after giving up here.

Definitely bigger pre flop. At least 10k IMO. I don't mind blasting the turn all in. Block AJ and KJ. Should get them off random 8s 5s and pp under JJ. Also folds out some equity that might get here like QTs KQs T9s

Playing AK out of position in a 3-bet pot is always very awkward, when we miss. With the somewhat large 2,7BB open preflop, and a field caller, I dont mind just jamming AK preflop for 45 bigs, when I am out of position. Postflop I am ok with your 1-and-done approach, but I might size up slighly on the flop.

What do you squeeze with that hits that flop? Probably a lot. So I think you are almost always continuing hard on turn.

A standard 3-betting range has all the overpairs but few hands, that actually connect with a flop like J85. Yes there are a few like JJ, AJ, KJs, A8s and A5s, but thats pretty much about it. The defending player has far more hands, that connect with the flop, so its a good flop for him, not for the 3-bettor.
