Hi, I've been a long time cash game grinder but a few months back I decided to take a break/cash out/ buy an engagement ring .

I'm once again getting the itch to play and I've decided I'd like to try to really learn MTT's. Over a fairly large sample size I'm a winner at NL200 (~1.5ptbb) but I've been getting an urge to play more MTTs lately. I've never really given them much effort as far as learning goes. So I just wanted to say hi and kind of introduce myself, as I will be frequenting these forums for a while.

I'm starting out at $10 45-man sngs @ Full Tilt. I'm sure I will be posting plenty of hands soon.

Welcome aboard.

A formula of straightforward TAG play until your M drops into the 5 to 7 range then picking the right spots to shove seems to work for me, but I have seen Laggier styles also enjoy success. If you can beat NL 200, I'm pretty confident you can achieve a reasonably postive ROI in the $10/45s. I would think you could expect to sustain something in the mid to high teens, possibly higher.

Thanks for the tips. I need to get Tourney Manager or something to track my results. I love stats etc. and I hate playing and not being able to see anything when I'm done. I stopped playing before PT3 came out so I'm pretty unfamiliar with it (plus I don't have it). I know there's probably a thread about it, but is there a particular software that you recommend for tracking results?

Other than PT, for MTTs http://www.officialpokerrankings.com is your best bet for tracking results

OPR is good, but they only track MTTs with i think 36(+/-) or more starting runners. Since you are going to play 45s that maybe good enough. In a similar vane I often go to sharkscope.com as a compliment as they track all sit-n-gos. I don't subscribe to sharkscope but I will often use all 5 of my free searches/ day. I keep it open when playing and find it to be quite useful in providing a quick read when I need one.
