Heads up ICM or SAGE? Heads up ICM or SAGE?

Hey guys,

Am playing nothing but 6max low stakes sngs atm and am fiddeling around with alot of different things.
When I used to get heads up in these sngs I would stick with the ICM which got me to that stage but was finishing second way more than first.

Pushing ATC at around 10 BI I was always finding myself always way behind and not taking down first as much as I would like.

I understand where ICM is coming from in that he can only call me a small % of the time, but in the low stakes sngs especially i get called wide alot.
Does this just mean I have to tighten up my range alot?

Someone told me about SAGE and have been using this for a while and finsihing first alot more than seconds now.
Sage is a bit more annoying when I'm multitabling but seems to be more effective.

Looking forward to your comments guys, just want to find the best way to play these games.

ICM doesn't apply to heads-up. ICM refers to the difference between cEV and $EV, and once your heads-up your cEV and $EV are directly correlated.

Use SAGE for heads-up. If your opponent calls really tight then pushing ATC at 10bb can sometimes be profitable, but it is extremely exploitable against a player with a decent calling range (although the optimal range is still pretty wide, at a little under 60%).

Thanks for the quick reply,

Well explained as I finally can put to rest my biggest leak of all heads up.
Will stick to SAGE and adjust it accordingly.

Thanks again
Jason

"The Mathematics of Poker" by Chen and some other guy has an unexploitable push/call chart for over 20 big blinds. Obviously you can adjust the ranges depending on the player. By default I memorized every single hand for 10 blinds or less (you can look at the paper print out though obviously) for the 400 chip level. I wouldn't recommend pushing anything over 15 bbs heads up....but that depends on your opponent too and your cards.

Yeah, ICM doesn't apply to heads up....it's all cEV.

ICM does apply, but the bubble factor is always 1 in heads up. To play HU well with small stack sizes I advise first having a good idea of Nash ranges, and then deviating from it based on the opponent.

Cheers for all the info guys,

Just printed it off and it looks like Nash is the way to go for pushing anway.
Now I just gotta remember all the hands and their values
