Bump. another thread mentioned the FAQ. I went to go look for it, and this was the most recent one I found. Apologies if there's a newer one I should know about.

Mat, thanks.

You can use NY Jet's post that links to a consolidated PDF.

If you can, please change the post title to "Favorite Threads" since other posters are putting together a FAQ for the forum.

I'm not new to poker, but new to 2+2 and to SNGs in general (as I've stated elsewhere). Wow. What a serious load of valuable information. I liked most of the links and think just what I've read already (Skimmed through and made a 33 page word file of particularly valuable info)is worth about +10% ROI at the $5.50 and $11 SNGs I'm currently playing. Fantastic. May I just thank you for compiling such terrific and profitable information? That really rocks. Now to digest it all.

BTW I had to read about 100 threads before I found this. There is a sticky post in Micro-Limit I belive is the one I found that also had great information in it. I hope people will continually bump this or make it sticky. Choc'full o' info.

The majority of the forum who have expressed an opinion would prefer, for various reasons, not to sticky this thread for now. From time to time, with assitance of any others who are willing (that means you, yugo), I'll update the favorite threads. Anyone is welcome to post some of their own favorite threads here.

I think a very good SnG book could be written with all of this information. Anything in the works? Thanks for the time it took to put this thread together.

Now that we've quit working on it, here are the links.

...and if either of those links break, look here for the files.

Bump... and what are these "various reasons" that the apparently silent "majority" has for not wanting to sticky this thread?

2.11 MISTAKES

citanul's "Fold, keep your image tight so you can steal more later" post is the latest of several good threads pointing out common mental mistakes.

Some other good threads on the subject include:

Lori's Common misconceptions. #1: Playing for first explaining why it's wrong to think that "Winning a tourney at all costs is incredibly important."

citanul's very common misconception people seem to need cleared up sometimes explaining why it's wrong to think that you shouldn't play the 1st 2 levels.

octaveshift's post quoting Scuba Chuck explaining why "It's a mistake to think that others will act like you."

As mentioned in the OP, Scuba Chuck's "What is a hand?" thread should be mandatory reading before posting a hand history.

Thanks to vindikation for pointing out the very useful, if a bit gay, instructional video on Posting and You.

2.12 PSYCHOLOGY

Maslow's Original Hierarchy of Needs by Irie is perhaps the most important psychology concept that you need to grasp.

I've gotten a lot of value out of Dan Mezick's The Psychology of Full Immersion.

Sweet Baby Jesus.
I've just discovered this thread if it can be called that (i favour, encyclopedia, fountain of knowledge or Lost Ark of the Covenant). My summer reading material has been found. I am blown over by the amount of information here. For beginner like me and experienced players alike this is awesome.
Im melting from poker information overload.
Thanks to all those involved.

Someone created a post with links to other very good posts in the MTT forum too. The moderators there took that post some links posted in its replies and created an Anthology of Wisdom post that was stickied to the top of the forum list by the FAQ. A little while ago, people wanted ideas to improve this forum, and I definitely think a similar bank of knowlegde found in the STT forum would definitely be +EV.
