While travelling, what did you miss the most? Other than fam and friends.

Cheers mate, I think the good and bad player thing is over rated people play good or bad from all round the world and you can't go just putting it all on where someone lives.

I do love russians tho.

Well id like to think of this is a case of where a whole stable went above what was expected and where we looked to really try to help turn a young kids life around.

Most of you might remember just how bad a poster lolftsmbn was and even worse of a player. I was asked by lostostrich to give the kid a chance, he felt that he wasnt going to head down the best path and that my social worker skills could help improve him as not just a poker player but a person.

When he first joined people thought it (and he) was a joke, there was bad mouthing and a bit of disrespect being shown and I was not going to stand for that. My rule is that no matter what the stake was we are all the same. After this Rhys (lolftsbmn) started to really step up in the group it was like having a little cheer squad.

When he made his first deep run in a micro mtt we had half the stable watching and hoping he would win the $300-400 first prize that was on offer. It was amazing to see guys like Rowniwn stop and take notice with this kid. Marc was my right hand man and he like I grew to love rhys and really notice how nice of a kid he was.

The one big problem we had was that I didnt have much time for coaching at this point so the guys really stepped up, Fintan Hand, Abe, Rowniwn, Acealices, Worst_Nuts and carpiediem really stepped up to give the guy a hand but the real helper was Aggro Santos.

Aggro Santos had himself started at the micros with me and was someone who I grew close to as I moved him up the ranks and to see Scott take such effort out of his own time to help somebody free of charge and for no personal gain was amazing.

Im really proud of Scott for what he did and what he has personally gone to archive in poker but I know a huge highlight was seeing Rhys ship a turbo mtt for 2kish.

I have done a fair few bad things in my days before my staking days but when I see the differences I have been able to make in guys like m1ghtyducks and Rhys and it makes me proud of what i did in this game. I didn't just see this as a chance to make money I also liked to take a few projects on and do my all to help where I can.

Its guy's like those that keep me clinging to hope that I might still have some passion for this game

James Squires Pale Ale.

I missed being around follow Australians. We are a very different type of people and its hard to be away from home for to long.

Id love to go and really see the war sites that I didnt have time to on my world tour, I have a love of history and I really skipped passed things on my trip.

Biggest error is not trying to get to know the person, how there life situation is, how there commitment levels are and also just going off stats and not a hand history.

how did you exercise BRM within the stable?

worst downswing?
Basically I work with investors and then do most of the work with the horses, finding the horses, arranging coaching, working out buy ins all that sort of stuff. I prefer to use investors as It means I dont put that risk on the family in the case another bf. Ive spoken to a few people but I am yet to be offered a new deal that would make it my time to return to the game so Im staking some guys on my own and enjoying some time off.

Theres a few tracking sites outthere such as donkbluff that you can use. I had my own staking program ready to launch that offered full graphs, bankroll tracking etc but I have put it on the back burner for the moment.

BRM isn't something id speak about in public and I believe the only person I have ever talked to about it was Zima and I don't think it would be in either of interest to give out our views on it. In terms of game selection and brm I feel im one of the best in the game and as its something that took me a load of hours to learn I don't really feel like sharing to much on that.

Well isn't this cute you big cutie.

Just going to add that Bogan is one of the greatest guys I have ever spoken to. He acts a **** but he is actually just a big cutie. I won't forget my first review with him when he basically abused me for at least 60% of it, called me a stupid **** on numerous occasions and then backed me.

R.i.p baby Yoda thats a tragic story.

Some questions;
1. Does live staking have any appeal to you? Is the long term too long in it?

2. You had a reason why nobody could play the supersonic, can you reveal it?

3. Can i still make my poker "breakthrough" or should it have happened already if its going to happen? Maybe thats an impossible question that could be rephrased how do you rate me?

Sorry for the delay been doing a fair bit of family time of late!

Part 2

It had been a pretty easy ride from backing 180s to moving into mtt's we had got ourselves some great horses and things were looking like they were going to go to the next level with Scoop only a month and a bit away. With every minute of the day that went past a horse would want a reload, a horse wants to know which SCOOPS they are playing or a horse would be in a tiny downswing and need to chat things out with me and it seems I hadn't had a day of in months.

Id finally decided to have a day even though we were going through a drama with a horse that had degen'ed money off playing cash and I thought all would be well for me to spend sometime with my family when my phone rings, it rings again, it rings for a 3rd time and my fiancee goes mental about how I can't even have a morning off to spend with my family and how this isn't worth it.

I try to explain to her, she doesn't care.
I try to explain to my staking partners, they don't understand.
I try to explain
I try to explain

**** IM SICK OF EXPLAINING MYSELF TO EVERYONE

Stress had started to get to me and my mind decided that with a huge series coming up a manic low was the thing to really put a spanner in the works. I could barely get the energy to move let alone the motivating you need to run a stable. Thank god for Rowniwn! While everyone else was busy worrying about themselves he was offering to help take some of the work load off my hands until I got better.

He was always one of the leaders of the group (along with being someone who I ran a small side stable with) but he really stepped up and kept the thing going while I took the 4-5 days I needed to recover and get ready for SCOOP. It might not sound like a lot of time off but when you have a stable the size I did with the style I run it having a few days off was not an option at the time.

Following this I got myself some help in the form of LostOstrich to take some of the admin duties off my hands and went back to business of SCOOPS. Working out peoples buy in levels can be one hell of a thing with everyone wanting to play a lot higher than they should. This started a lot of in fighting, why is player x allowed to play a 1k but im not? Why is player y in this event but im not I am better then he is?

While players might enjoy a SCOOP or WCOOP series for most of the part it is annoying as hell for a backer until that day, that day you wake up late, that day you turn on skype and GBMANTIS is still in with 12 left.

I woke my partner up and got my daughter next to me, this was our moment. This was what all the hard work had been for. As we got down to 4 handed to make a deal I looked over at my lady and I had a tear running down my cheek. I hadn't done many things I was proud of in my adult life, I had become a drug addict and a drug dealer and had hurt a lot of people from my actions but this was something I had created.

GBMANTIS chopped the scoop for just under 100k, a scoop! **** I had started railing $8 180s and now I have a horse that is chopping a scoop. I called up my 3 closest friends and there gf's and took them out to get the best steak in Melbourne followed by a few beers.

A few days later I put the last payment down on my house and had paid off my mortgage. I was debt free, owed my house and was ready to get married to the woman I loved but first Its time to see a bit of the world...

Part 3 #boganworldtour Trip Report + my retirement

To end that part I want to send a huge thanks to Marc for the support he always showed when I was unwell along with all the other senior guys that stood up during that time.

Mental Illness is a all to common thing in general let alone in poker and showing support to someone in a time of need only takes a few moments but the effect it has on someone to know that people have your back is huge. Remember that there is more to life then poker and that if we let the game take over our lifes no matter how much money we have made we are still actually losing.

Live staking opens up chances to scam a looooooooooot more.

Nobody was allowed to play it because a lot of people use it as a chance to blow off steam and fail at a hyper structure. Its unwanted and unneeded variance.

With your mindset you can do anything in life, you work just as hard as any player I have ever had and always willing to listen. Keep working on your game and you will see the results flow.
